Chapter Eight

After reading the chapter and the powerpoint, please do the following:

Bulletin/Discussion Board Post (see due date on discussion board)

Read powerpoint slides four and five, now go to the discussion board and answer the question

that is posed for chapter eight. No minimum word count just be sure to support your viewpoint.

Response A: “The Choice”

(1) State whether there was anyone not qualified?

(2) Based upon the qualified list, who do you hire and why?

(3) How does your decision impact the company as it relates to diversity and inclusion?

(4) What message does your decision send to the community as it relates to diversity and

inclusion?

Reply to two peers regarding response A: The choice above stating why you could also see the

reason for their answer particularly if it differs from your own.

Please be culturally sensitive in both your post and response as we all come from different

viewpoints and perspectives as it relates to diversity and inclusion.

Chapter Nine/Ten

After reading the chapter and watching the powerpoint presentation, answer the following

questions:

Part A: PepsiCo Survey Evaluation

1. What is your viewpoint on PepsiCo’s D & I Survey?

2. How does it relates to their D & I goals?

3. What did you think about the components included? Be specific don’t just say they were

okay.

4. How is this survey utilized in their D & I initiatives?

Part B:

1. Why would it be important to have senior leadership support in D & I (Diversity &

Inclusion) goals and activities?

2. How could diversity training help to achieve the outcomes from table 9.2 on page

277? Who would need to be trained?

3. On the powerpoint, complete slide four and state why you chose your answer. Choose

two of the companies that follow beginning on slides five through nine. The

powerpoint slide four states to do the following:

State where you think the company is at when the lawsuit occurred: exclusion,

symbolic inclusion, prescribed inclusion, inclusion—see chapter nine/ten for

definition. Where do you think they are today?

4. Read “the headscarf story” in slide 14 (by double clicking the link or right clicking it)

titled: headscarf,

a. Now summarize what happened in a paragraph.

b. Now read the headscarf outcome and state what happened.

c. After reading about this case, do you think it is easy to fight discrimination

against large companies? Why or Why not?
