Earlier this year, in mid-February (Week 5 of class), we did an environmental analysis of Kroger, looking at their competitive and macro environments. Eleven weeks has passed since then (now Week 16 of class) but a lot has changed due to the present pandemic. For this extra credit assignment, I want you to re-analyze the environment and mention what has changed and stayed the same. To help you do that, below there is a worksheet. You may also find it helpful to go back to the worksheet from our external environments unit for prompting questions. You will definitely find it helpful to do a little reading of news related to grocery stores in general (and Kroger in particular). The URL news.google.com has a very helpful search bar for this purpose.

Section 2 (20 points). Expand your answers as much as you wish, no min, no max length:
1. What do you consider the greatest opportunities for Kroger during the pandemic due to the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)? Did they have to invest considerable resources to take advantage of these opportunities and keep the business successful?
2. Looking at the findings in your table, what would you consider the greatest threats to Kroger during the pandemic?
3. Was Kroger successful on showing security/cleanliness (biological point of view) to their customers? What can you say to the way they managed this situation in relation to their competitors?
4. Eventually, the pandemic will end. What do you anticipate the environment looking like for Kroger once this outbreak ends? How do you expect it to be similar to and different from the pre-pandemic environment?
