I am writing to you to raise some of the issues that are currently affecting our organization. Specifically, I would like to draw your attention to the issue of workplace stress that is currently affecting our organization. A stressing employment situation is not enjoyable and many employees would rather choose to stay at home rather than work in a stressing situation. Recently, I have spoken to some of my colleagues and those I supervise and have come to the conclusion that the situation is dire to warrant your attention. Currently, as an organization we are faced with a high rate of employee attrition owing to the fact many feel that this is no longer the place they would like work. This has different implications for the company most of which are adverse. Some of the implications may include rising costs, and dwindling growth. Putting place measures that combat stress in the workplace will go a long way in boosting employees’ morale and increasing their productivity.
Stress in the workplace could come from many directions. Foremost, it is important to carry out surveys or interviews to determine the levels of stress among the workers. The impacts of stress are numerous: for instance, the company may be forced to incur more costs to cater for employee insurances costs for stress related healthcare services. When these costs increase, they will affect the management of the organization, which is responsible for managing costs. Another negative connotation associated with stress in the workplace is employee morale. There is no doubt that low employee morale could lead to absenteeism. Eventually, the organization will be left to take care of high levels of employee attritions, which will eventually affect the organization’s profitability. In teamwork environment such as the one that thrives in organization it is important to control the interactions so as to reduce the stress that may arise from conflicts among team members.
I am proposing that the organization adopts various approaches to deal with stress in the workplace to avert the aforementioned adverse effects. On that note, the first approach is to train employees on stress management. Here, the organization could take various approaches such as recommending counseling for employees who appear stressed. Another approach would to setup seminars and workshops for the employees to learn from industry professionals on how it is done. In these training sessions video tapes on techniques to reduce stress in the workplace could be applied to teach the employees. Approaches such as these have been documented in California where cost savings of up to $6,150 were realized. Furthermore, training employees to prioritize things, getting along with workers, and communicating effectively could also be some of the other techniques that the organization could adopt. Finally, it would also help to give employees clear information concerning transfers and promotions, which directly relates to their work.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that workplace stress has negative stress on the employee as well as employers. As a result, there is need for drastic action to be taken on this issue. I am willing to provide further research on the issue should you need me to do so. I also hope to hear from you on this issue. Kindly reach me through my email in your earliest convenience.
Thanks
