Watch the documentary “Interference: China’s covert political influence campaign
in Australia” produced by the Australian ABC News. To what extent can the Chinese
campaign of trying to influence Australian domestic opinion speak to its soft power?
How has this case revealed the “dark side”, so to speak, of soft power? In answering
these two questions, you must use the analytical structure of the three sources of soft
power: i.e., political values, legitimacy of foreign policy, and culture.
