Memo 2 Assignment Overview Memo #2 Assignment Rubric - to maximize your grade, follow this rubric very closely.
Statistical Analysis The goal of Memo #2 is to demonstrate your mastery of both descriptive and inferential statistics. You get to choose which dataset you'd like to work with and the variables that you want to explore. This memo (max 3 pages) will ask you to:
Choose one dataset from the following three to explore Choose 2-4 variables from that dataset that interest you (be sure to note the level of measurement of each) and describe them using the appropriate statistics Include at least one descriptive statistics table generated using pivot tables, following the best practices laid out in Week 3's in-class exercise. Create at least one graph to illustrate your findings (can be more if necessary!) Hypothesize a relationship between two of those variables that you have chosen - state your hypothesis in layman's terms very clearly in the piece. Even bold face or italicize it. Test the relationship using the appropriate inferential test and report the findings to a lay audience.
Data Sets Choose one and only one to work with for Memo 2:
Seattle Employee Demographics and Wages Documentation: https://data.seattle.gov/City-Business/City-of-Seattle-Staff- Demographics/5avq-r9hj (https://data.seattle.gov/City-Business/City-of-Seattle-Staff- Demographics/5avq-r9hj) Description: This dataset contains information about the demographics, wages, and employment status of all City of Seattle employees. The data has been anonymized.
Diversity Training Program Survey Revisit Nishishiba et al_Chapter 1 for more context on this (Emily's diversity training program)

Note that CA no longer uses the academic performance index to evaluate schools, so anything that you'd say in the memo would need to acknowledge that this is historical data. Still useful for explore certain relationships, though.
Deliverables 2-3 page memo with all tables and graphs included Excel file used to generate your analysis
