SUBJECT: WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PROTECTION ACT ADOPTION IN HEALTHCARE

Lately, we have witnessed acts of violence against healthcare workers in our region. Healthcare workers have committed the acts towards their fellow healthcare workers, members of the public towards the healthcare workers, and patients towards the healthcare workers.

The adoption of the proposed workplace violence protection act for healthcare workers is very important. The continued violence against medical practitioners is an alarming issue that creates the need to protect healthcare workers.

Therefore, the region needs to adopt the healthcare workers' protection act to enable our health care workers to work in an environment that they are sure about their security. If adopted, the act will ensure that other workers in different sectors are also protected against workplace violence.
