Title of the Paper: Propaganda

Hypothesis or Supposition: The Media and Propaganda

Key Point One: the media has been used as propaganda to generate public support especially in politics. According to Chomsky (2002), the media and public relations have turned to tools of controlling the public mind in the United States and not informing the public. the mass media is the primary transporter in delivering propaganda in the United States. Combs and Sara (2013) cite that the media is even using films to manipulate public perception and opinions in politics.

Key Point Two

Media propaganda was evident in the 2016 United States presidential election. Most analysts have indicated that majority of the mainstream media reporting was not positive for both Trump and Hillary, but widely followed the agenda of president Trump. when reporting on Hillary Clinton, coverage primarily focused on the various scandals related to the Clinton Foundation and emails. When focused on Trump, major substantive issues, primarily immigration, were prominent (Faris, & Roberts, 2017).

Propaganda has widely spread in TV advertisements. The reason is that TV’s advertisements are the form of mass communication that influential groups can control easily. Also, through TV messages are presented the way they want it to be. Television is the major communication link, and so by using it, they are able to influence a large number of people.

Key Point Four

The media has the power to eliminate propaganda. One of the ways they can do so is through transforming their platforms to the values they do preach in public. health measure should be carried out to ensure that all platforms do not misinform. According to John (2018), in a decentralized world, we should create a new model of the media to deal with propaganda.
