· Apply strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing basic care and comfort for clients.
In module 1, I learned about different nursing interventions that can help clients achieve basic care and comfort by reading the assigned chapter to the module. It taught me about vital signs, rest and sleep, nutrition and hydration, elimination, and sex and reproduction, and the desired levels to promote a healthy lifestyle. I looked in depth at Maslow's hierarchy of needs and how when physiological needs are not met, it makes it increasingly more difficult for other needs such as safety and security to be met.
This new knowledge will help me in prioritizing the care and interventions that a client may need when they come in for medical assistance.
· Select appropriate nursing interventions when providing multidimensional care to clients experiencing alterations in mobility.
I learned about different complications reflecting impaired mobility in each body system. Learning about the potential problems to look for such as decreased circulation, impaired skin integrity, and increased fall risk helped me to scope out interventions that could help such as ambulatory devices, repositioning, and leg elevation (Ignatavicius, Workman, Rebar & Heimgartner, 2018).
I learned the components of a NANDA-approved nursing diagnosis. This will allow me to create a focused plan of care with a specific, achievable, and timely goal for my client
· Explain components of multidimensional nursing care for clients with musculoskeletal disorders.
In modules 5 and 6, I learned about different musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoporosis, osteomyelitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome, signs, and symptoms such as pain, inflammation, and erythema that come along with some of these disorders. One thing in specific I learned about was fractures and the stages of bone healing.
This new knowledge of fractures and bone healing will allow me to properly assess a fracture and how to promote bone healing such as providing a nutritional diet to the client.
· Prioritize strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing care for clients experiencing sensory and perception disorders.
In module 7 I learned about different eye disorders and the treatments associated with them. For example, I learned that glaucoma and cataracts are required eye drop therapy that lasts weeks long at a time and requires multiple applications of eye drops. I learned that the prevention of infection during treatment is a priority.
Learning that infections are at elevated risk during eye drop therapy, it's important to teach the client how to properly administer eye drops in a hygienic way (Wilkinson, 2019).
· Apply knowledge of integumentary disorders when providing safe, effective nursing care.
In module 8 I learned about the integumentary system and the factors that can impair skin integrity such as over-exposure to sunlight, immobility, and infections. I learned about different things to look for in a skin assessment and what they might potentially mean. For example, I learned that erythema may be an indication of an infection, not just the body over-heating.
Learning what to look for in a skin assessment will help me to identify potential problems such as infection or insufficient blood flow.
· Describe strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing care for clients experiencing immunologic, infectious, and inflammatory disorders.
I learned that the first way to help prevent infection is to perform proper hand hygiene, and also to identify those who have impaired immunity and are at a higher risk of infection
Learning this makes hand hygiene a part of client education that I feel I will always teach to my client no matter their situation or condition. Not only for their own benefit, but to everyone around them.

· Apply strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing basic care and comfort for clients.
During the beginning of the class, we learned the fundamentals of providing safe, basic nursing care. We discussed the different tiers in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and how to implement them into our nursing care. We must provide the needs of the client in the basic order of human function in order to achieve success in our patient care models(Mcleod, 2020).
· Select appropriate nursing interventions when providing multidimensional care to clients experiencing alterations in mobility.
There are many nursing interventions that I have learned throughout this course in regards to clients having alterations in their mobility. We must be educating our clients on the proper use of assistive devices. We need to educate our clients on the need of creating a minimized fall risk for themselves by keeping walkways free of clutter, having adequate lighting, discontinue the use of throw rugs, and installing helpful devices such as grab bars(Nurseslabs, 2021).
· Explain components of multidimensional nursing care for clients with musculoskeletal disorders.
An important factor I learned when caring for a client with a musculoskeletal disorder is to assess their pain. Pain plays a very large role in these clients' daily lives and is impacting their way of living. A common therapeutic relief regimen that I learned during this section was the RICE technique. This is very helpful when trying to manage swelling and the discomfort it can present.
· Prioritize strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing care for clients experiencing sensory and perception disorders.
When providing care for a client with a sensory or perception disorder, it is imperative to keep things familiar for the patient. For example, if a patient has a visual deficit, it is wise to keep their home as they have always known it to be to help with the prevention of falls. Educating the patient on ways to keep themselves familiarized with their surroundings is key in providing the client with a safe environment to continue to live in. When having a sensory deficit, it also heightens other senses allowing for the client to perhaps compensate
· Apply knowledge of integumentary disorders when providing safe, effective nursing care.
Hand hygiene is critical when caring for clients with integumentary disorders. We need to be very thorough with our hand cleanliness when coming in contact with these clients. We also need to be sure that the clients are gettin

Course Reflection
In Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, I learned that basic human needs must be met ahead of any other need. I achieved an understanding of Maslow's hierarchy of needs by discovering that oxygenation, food, water, and sleep are essential needs that should be met first before any other need (Hopper, 2020). This will positively impact my nursing career because I now know the top priorities when caring for patients, which will enable me to provide safe and quality care.
Learning about the nursing interventions when handling patients with impaired mobility was interesting. It provided me with the skills and knowledge that I require to help patients with impaired mobility. In addition, looking up interventions for the risk of impaired skin integrity gave me a whole new understanding of preventing patients with impaired mobility from having impaired skin integrity.
Nursing care for patients with musculoskeletal disorders was insightful as I learned that nurses play pivotal roles in ensuring patients receive the best care (Wensley, 2018). The new thing I learned was maintaining a suitable level of therapeutic mobility and restriction for these clients, ensuring that I first treat life-threatening conditions before any other thing. As a result, I am confident that I would provide any patient with musculoskeletal disorder with the best care.
When learning about sensory and perception disorders, the new information I got was that patient safety is the highest priority when handling a client experiencing sensory and perception disorders. In addition, I learned that I have to frequently monitor the client, maintain the client’s comfort, and providing him/her with a conducive environment for recovery.
I learned that the integumentary system is susceptible to diseases, injuries, and infections that require much attention. The new knowledge I acquired during this course is that health promotion is vital for providing safe and effective care for such patients. I will use this information to ensure that patients practice good health.
Finally, I learned that a safe environment is essential for patients with immunologic, infectious, and inflammatory diseases to prevent them from having hospital-acquired infections and improve their healthcare (Wensley, 2018). Therefore, as a future nurse, I will ensure I create a safe and conducive environment to promote the patient’s quality of life.
