Discussion of research
In finding the academic peer reviewed articles relating to this topic, I used keywords such as "obesity" and "overweight" to select the most relevant articles. To select the resources for the annotated bibliography exercise, I keyed in the above identified keywords into Google scholar and then filtered the results to include only results published in the last three years.
The information sources of the selected articles are credible because all of the selected articles are published in various peer-reviewed journals. Given that all of the selected articles were published within the last three years, it therefore follows that their respective publications are current. At the same time, the information published in the selected articles, is still relevant because it addresses the topic of obesity and overweight, which is the primary focus of this research exercise.
Regarding the relevance of the selected information sources, it should be understood that the article by Bidder-Canfield, et al, (2017) addresses this topic with regards to gestational diabetes, maternal obesity, and childhood overweight while the article by Bleich et al, (2018) addresses the systematic review of the interventions that could prevent global childhood obesity and overweight. Bullock, et al, (2017), on their end addressed this health issue with a primary focus on American Indian and Alaska native children. Martin, et al, (2017) were also relevant because they addressed behavioral interventions to improving cognition and school achievement for those children struggling with obesity and overweight.

The primary purpose of the authors in this article was to assess the interplay among the factors such as gestational diabetes, maternal obesity, childhood overweight, and breastfeeding. In summary therefore, the authors of this article identified the aforementioned four factors as the most important because they associated with childhood obesity. Based on the results of their experiment, the researchers concluded that gestational diabetes is not associated with obesity and overweight but excessive gestational weight gain is.

The primary purpose of this article is to provide a systematic review of the interventions that could be used to prevent global childhood overweight and obesity. In summary, the authors determined that the effective school based solutions coupled with proper diet could be the ultimate solution to preventing the issue of global obesity and overweight

The purpose of researchers in this article was to estimate the extent of obesity and overweight among children of American Indians and Alaska natives. In summary, the researchers found out that 18.5% of children between the ages of 2 and 19 years were overweight while 29.7% of children in the same age bracket were obese. However, comparing these prevalence across genders, the researchers found out that boys were affected more than girls. Based on the results of their research efforts, these researchers concluded that the prevalence of overweight and obesity for this chosen population was higher than those of American children in general.

The primary purpose of the researchers in this article was to assess lifestyle interventions in improving cognitive functions and school achievements. In summary, the authors concluded that effective school based interventions, when used together with proper diets will be the ultimate solution to global childhood obesity.
Summary
In summary therefore, one of the lessons I learned from developing the annotated bibliography is that I get to understand each information source on its own terms as I write the annotation to each selected information source. With this understanding, I get to make a better choice of the sources while at the same time giving proper credit to the perspectives, ideas, and information gathered during the research.
