2. Test/Validate the core model
Very important due to often high level of model complexity.
Start simple and build complexity gradually. NEW TYPE OF MODEL MANIPULATION!

3. Replicate the core model to "simulate" (1) many times of process completion (behavior) or (2) the process being used many hours or days
maybe 1,000 or more times. -->like actually observing a large sample of this business process
With this large sample, now can describe/estimate the distributions of the key objective measures
Calculate summary values like sample mean, stdev, percentiles, Q1, Q3, etc. -- use as estimates of true mean, stdev, percentiles, …
Develop a frequency table of classes and proportion of values in each.
Develop graphs/figures depicting the full distribution (histograms).
Sometimes this distribution is called the RISK PROFILE of the objective measures of this business sytem or business process.
IF ASKED TO ANALYZE DECISION OPTIONS:
Make a change to the process (to the core model) and perform the replications again. Record new values of the measures. Organize and compare.
4. Organize all the results into one or several RESULTS TABLES and graphs -- to present/show conclusions and insights.
BUSINESS CONCLUSIONS (INSIGHTS) AND PERHAPS RECOMMENDATIONS

SIMULATION MODELING EXAMPLE Demonstrate Analysis with Simulation Models using Excel capabilities: =RAND, =IF, Data Table, =FREQUENCY
Similar to Example 1 in chapter 12 of text. Issue: Process -- A coin-flipping game
Problem Definition: BusQuestion: What are the results of playing this game? Can I get a better understanding of this game and its outcomes?
Decision: After the better understanding --> Yes or No -- play the game or not. (No decision in the Core Model.)
Objective Measure: Winnings ($) -- avg, stdev, 5 percentile, 95 percentile, min, max, risk of "big" loss: more than $10? Perhaps risk profile of winnings. Perhaps, Other?
Constraints: Rules of the game. Can't quit in middle of game.
Data: Play of Game: Repeated flipping of a coin until the difference
