  First Assignment – Select one of the following classic management authors:    Fredrick Taylor  Henri Fayol   Henry Mintzberg  Henry Gantt   Max Weber  Mary Parker Follett  Elton Mayo   Chester Barnard  Frank and Lillian Gilbreth   J. Edwards Deming     Write a two to three‐page paper on the author you selected and answer the following questions.  Use the  MLA method to cite the sources used to write your paper.    

1. What were the most significant contributions to management theory made by the author you selected?   

2. Which aspects of their theories do you think are still relevant in today’s business environment?    

3. Which aspects of their theories do you doubt are still relevant in today’s business environment?    

4. If you were going to perform additional research on their theories, which aspects of their theories would,  you research.  Why? 

  Assignment Due Date ‐ Submit your completed paper via Blackboard by the end of day, February 23, 2019.   This assignment can be worth up to 35 points toward your total Assignment points for the semester.  Points  will be awarded based upon the student demonstrating they researched their author and their contributions to  management theory.  To earn maximum points your need to answer all four questions in the assignment and  submit the assignment for grading on time.  You may also submit your paper well ahead of the due date.
