Mathematics Autobiography
Introduction
In every person’s journey, mathematics has remained to be an essential subject (Bean, 2011). Regardless of being a student, business person, or a professional, math has always been a significant component of personal development. From an own point of view, Mathematics has remained to be an essential subject in my life. The feelings and attitude I have towards Mathematics, in addition to my thoughts on the EdReady demonstrations, has made me realize how useful I will use Mathematics in enhancing my career path.
The kind of feeling and attitude which I have towards mathematics were all influenced by my Junior High School Mathematics professor. In my elementary education, I believed that math was only for the genius. I had a bad attitude towards it as a subject and in almost all of my examinations which I took; math was always coming last regarding my subject performance. All this changed, when I joined the junior high school. Since then, my mathematics professor removed all the fears I was having in mathematics. He made to see calculation not only as a doable subject but as a subject which is very useful in one’s life. Currently, math has remained as my favorite subject, and I do enjoy not only its lessons but also practicing and doing its examinations. During my mathematical lessons, I do have a lot of positivity in what I am always being taught by my professors and I can confirm that this has been the major reason for my vertical improvement in mathematics all this along.
Mathematics has different versions of classes which one can take. Some classes lean towards statistics mathematics, others towards applied mathematics, while others lean toward pure mathematics (Nolting, 2012). Because of the nature of career which I intend to pursue my education, I do take both applied and statistics mathematics classes. I have the intention of being a statistician; therefore, such classes remain to be substantial for my career path. As a statistician, I will always be dealing with data and assisting in finding out practical solutions to specific problems. Just as it is still, statisticians are concerned with collection, analysis, interpretations, and above all, presentation of quantitative information and so will make my case. The applied and statistics mathematics lessons which I will take will help me to carry out all the concerns which statisticians do have in their career path. Nevertheless, on a daily basis, I will be using the same lessons to solve various data related problems which would be of interest to me and the society as a whole.
My love for mathematics is not only attributed to my professors but equally to EdReady website. Though some people had discouraged me about this website, I find it as a helpful site for my overall improvement in mathematics. Since I started using the website, I have learned several concepts in mathematics which equally I have made to view math as a more straightforward subject compared to other subjects. All these are attributed to this website’s ability to enable one to be at a position of personalizing his or her study path as a way of filling knowledge gaps. Therefore, I would encourage every learner to view this site with much positivity.
Conclusion
While some people might have a negative thought about math, I do have a different view on the same. I consider math as an essential subject in my life thereby making me have positive feelings and attitudes toward it, thanks to my junior high school mathematics professors. With the futuristic goal of being a statistician, statistics and applied math lessons will remain to be my major classes. In areas which I do not understand, EReady website will stay as an alternative guiding tool for the sake of my continuous improvements in math.
