Math 117 Assignment

1. Attached is the pulse rate data from all of Prof. Rose's classes for Fall 2020. Make a dot plot of this data by hand using graph paper and answer the following questions, then upload your graph and your answers to Blackboard. Your dot plot should have clearly labeled axes and categories, along with a title.  Your uploaded files must be pdf, jpeg or docx.  Your documents must be viewable without rotating them.

1. How many cases and variables are there in this dataset?

2. Calculate (showing your calculation) and compare the mean pulse rate of the students who exercised with those who did not exercise.

3. Calculate (showing your calculation) and compare the median pulse rate of the students who exercised with those who did not exercise.

4. Does either measure of center (either the mean or the median) appear to justify a conclusion that 10 seconds of exercise is sufficient to increase a person's heart rate?
