A primary role of nursing faculty is to develop safe and quality learning environments and activities that allow students to achieve a robust, engaging, and productive learning experience. To enhance student learning, it is crucial for faculty to plan carefully with students and administrators in a shared governance approach.
***classroom assessment techniques as formative evaluation tools and procedures and analyze how nursing faculty can use the techniques to improve teaching and learning.
****Regardless of the practice environment, the most important criterion for selecting clinical experiences is that each learning experience or activity relates logically to the desired learning outcome . Furthermore, each learning experience and practice activity should be an integral part of the course and align with the course and program outcomes . Finally, it is crucial that the clinical instructor, students, and nursing staff understand the goals and objectives of each clinical activity.
***Forces and trends related to curriculum and instruction in nursing education will continue, but regardless of the resulting views and changes brought about by the forces and trends, curriculum designs must be responsive to the needs of a dynamically changing healthcare system. Therefore, the hallmark of today’s nursing curricula is flexibility.

What stood out as important to you over the past 8 week s? I was able to differentiate between the processes of teaching and the processes of learning. ***I was able to see what type of learner (AUDITORY)and educator (FACILITATOR) I am based on the personal questioners presented during class

INTERVIEW WAS DURING WEEK 4
Introduction
The interview was done to an experienced nurse educator who explained about the different trends present in nursing education that she has been able to observe and experience during her career in education. The interview was carried on a face to face conversation for the purpose of being able to get first-hand information which is more genuine (Herrman, 2015). The name of the interviewee is Mary Leaky who is an experienced nurse educator. She is a specialist on family care and has been able to work in the current position as a nurse educator and a family care specialist for a period of 6 years. She oversees family care while working at St. John’s hospital. The interview was scheduled on 9/14/2018 at 10 o’clock in the morning.
Mary Leaky is one of the best nurse educators in Canada West University. She has always been among the best since she got an opportunity to work as a nurse educator. To her, every individual who has had a chance to be a nurse educator has the ability in one way or another to greatly impact the future of nursing, he or she can take the opportunity of participating in carrying out the research, comfortably sharing his or her clinical expertise that he has to the students that he or she has always had an interaction with and at the same time go ahead and continue working as a patient care provider if he or she is willing to do so (Herrman, 2015). She is a specialist in patient care and teaches the nurses on how they can carry out patient care. most of her student look up to her as a mentor and parent at the same time since she is very determined and dedicated in everything that she does according to the interview session that we had together.
The interview
As a nurse educator she has the clinical expertise that belongs to a nurse who registered. However, she belongs to a field that is the main determinant on the quality of care that is to be rendered by the future nurses at their place of practice and the impact on the satisfaction of the patient at a future time and generally the future of the health-care industry.
Carrying an interview session face to face has always been the best experience ever that someone would always desire to have. This is the reason why as an individual I decided to have a one on one interview session with the nurse educator. Mary Leaky was my interviewee. She has had an experience of 6 years as a nurse educator in Canada West University. It was a great pleasure having a chance to meet with her despite her normal busy schedule. She passionately and whole heartedly loves her work and everything that she does on a daily basis. It is not easy for an individual to love his or her work the way I had an experience with Mary. It was the best of all that I ever had. Her major goal in life most of the time has always been to impact and nurture the young nurses to be the best people in the coming century. There is nothing good like having a goal to nurture the coming generation. She courteously accepted me typing her questions, not voice or video recording were allowed.
Questions that were asked to the nurse educator:
1. Give me some of the details about yourself.
My name is Mary Leaky; I have been a nurse educator for the last 6 years in Canada West University. It has been my pleasure working as a nurse educator since the time I decided to specialize in patient care. There is more that I could have said but I think this is the necessary information that I could have given to you.
2. How has the nursing training been able to prepare you until you were able to aspire being a nurse educator?
I have really enjoyed my nursing training because from the time I was a young child I always dreamt of being a nurse for the purpose of ensuring that I was in a position to save the lives of other people. I decided to venture into becoming a nurse educator since I thought it was my duty to inspire others because I was able to do it myself. I have always felt at peace when I train others to be what they have been dreaming of. It is determination and hard work that made me to be where I am at the moment.
3. As a nursing educator what are some of the greatest strengths that you have made most of your students to aspire being like you?
Everyone in the institution look up to me and this means that it is my duty to ensure that I am in a position to work round the clock for the purpose of ensuring that I do not fail them at any cost. I take all my students to be my children because I am the one who is involved in molding them especially in their career life which means that it is a very great opportunity for me to be a parent. Because of the small number of students that I have, I have always taken my time to ensure that I am able to learn and understand each and every particular student.
4. As a nurse educator, what are some of the challenges have you gone through while training nurses and while taking care of the patients whenever you have a chance to do that?
I have always had a chance to interact with patients once in a while, but this has not been an easy thing for me because different patients have different challenges that need to be catered for. Interacting and meeting the needs of different patients has not been an easy thing to do especially on the part of the nurse. I have had to go back and study more for me to gain a better understanding of what I really need to do for the purpose of handling them in the right way.
5. What made you as a nurse educator to train in the particular field of nursing that you are in?
I have always known in my life that any given individual in his or her life has always desired to have the best care ever especially when it comes to different complications in the body. I had compassion on my patients and I thought it will be good of me if I decide to go ahead and know how to really take care of them so that they do not suffer the way they are suffering at the moment. I decided to go ahead and study more for the purpose of ensuring that all the patients had the right to enjoy having good health.
6. What are some of the personalities that as a nurse educator have you had that made it easier for you to be able to comfortably train nurses despite the normal challenges available?
Some of the personalities that as nurse I have had to teach myself to have include being patient and very understanding. This is because I was able to realize that this is what most of the patients might need. Being patient has really helped me to avoid a lot of things that could have harmed me rather than making me a good nurse.
7. Please give some of the qualifications and the level of education that someone who is aspiring to be a nurse educator can have and the ones that you have as a nurse educator?
Anyone who is aspiring by all means to be a nurse educator has to be hardworking and determined to work round the clock to achieve the best. Always ensure that as an individual you have been able to identify your strong point so that you can specialize on it without having any challenge at all. When you have decided to specialize on something it does not have to be strenuous for you, but it has to be simple for you to carry it out.
8. Give in details the specific area of specification that you are dealing with?
I deal with the provision of the best patient care. This is my area of specialization and this is what I train the nurses to do while in their interaction with the different patients that they get into contact with.
9. What are some of the advantages of being a nurse educator?
Some of the privileges that I have had by being a nurse educator include having a little package of work to do while carrying out my daily dealing. I have had enough time to be with my family and to do some of the research that relate with my area of specialization. Being a nurse educator has helped me to have an opportunity to do a lot of things pertaining to the improvement of my career.
10. Give in summary about the teaching philosophy and the goals that are related to the nursing education and also give some of the ways of knowing that the student goals are met so that while in their place of work they can be competent and dependable at the same time.
You will always know whether you have been able to achieve the best or go to greater heights when your students are able to excel in everything that they are doing. It has always been an agreement between me and my students that after every topic that I have taught them to give them a test. It is not easy for them to agree but in the end they all enjoy it. Doing this has really helped me to achieve the goals and objectives of the course thus covering the syllabus the way it is required.
11. What are some of the advices can you give to the other nurses who are really longing and working very hard to be nurse educators?
It is very satisfying to work hard for the purpose of ensuring that you nurtured other people. There is nothing good and self-satisfying like training others to be what they have always longed to be. Hard work, patience and understanding are the things that will make someone be the best nurse educator. No one knows where his or her lurk is always but always strive to excel and be the best.
12. What are some of the personalities do nurses have to possess?
Taking time to understand and listen to what the patient is really going through is one of the things that have made me to be ranked among the best nurses in my line of duty.
Reflection
Taking care of patients is what every nurse would always want to do, especially in their line of duty. Touching an individual’s life is the permanent mark that can be left which can never be forgotten at any given point in time. No one would ever understand this unless it is made practical. When someone comes to you and tells you about the impact that you left in their hearts that is the time that you will really get to understand that life is very important and that your services are really needed especially by an individual who is in pain.
I had to interact with literature materials that talk more about how the nurse educators especially those who train the nurses on patient care ought to behave. This is really a crucial part especially when it comes to a healthcare unit because you will have patients being satisfied depending on the care that you give to them. Patient care is very important to a patient who is in pain or who is really suffering because this is what they really need and yearn for. One of the new trends that have come up especially when it comes to patient care is ensuring that the patient is able to learn about the complex health situations because there is a rise in the cost especially when it comes to the care of these situations. It is the duty of the nurse educator to ensure that he or she has been able to teach his or her students on how they can involve themselves in teaching the patients about specific health issues. The student will be able to learn how to talk well with his or her patients, how to document the conversations and how to later make a follow up and ensure that they have been able to do what they were asked to do.
Technology really plays a very big role when it comes to healthcare and the way patients are to be treated by the nurses. This means that the new devices that are being used and present in the offices and labs require the nurses to be very fluent in them. The nurse educator has to really be equipped with enough knowledge on how to deal with such devices so that he or she can go ahead and train his or her students to use them for the purpose of ensuring that patient care is done the way it is required.
Conclusion
The interview interaction that we had took a longer time than we had expected it to take but it was really enjoying, and I cannot regret having the interaction because through it I was able to learn a lot of things. Nurse educators are important people especially in the life of nurses and patients too. There are some of the things if not done in the right way might affect the whole generation (Nguyen et al., 2017). If the nurse educator is not well equipped with the required knowledge on how he or she would teach the nurses to conduct their duties then it means that the nurses would not be competent in any way and it also means that the patients will not be given the required services as it is needed (Raymond et al., 2018). When a nurse educator enjoys the work that he or she does then it means that he or she will be able to offer the best out of everything.
