Discussion Board Grading Criteria and Rubric

At the beginning of the course, your instructor will assign you a letter of the alphabet to be used each week. This letter may be sent to you via email or through an Announcement in Blackboard. Please make sure you check your student email regularly. For the discussion board assignment in each unit, you will complete the problem associated with the letter that you have been assigned by the instructor. Post the entire example/word problem you have been assigned from the textbook. Then fully explain how you would go about finding the solution. Please explain all steps in a way that a struggling classmate could understand and learn from your methods. Question and or compliment your classmates’ work at least twice during the discussion period. Professional communication is expected in all posts, which includes proper spelling and grammar, and providing source information when using outside resources. Discussion Best Practices:

 Actively participate in the weekly discussions where active participation is defined as 3 or more posts (your initial post plus at least two responses to classmates).

 Your first post should be submitted by 11:59 pm (EST) Wednesday evening. Professional communication is expected in all posts, which includes proper spelling and grammar, and providing source information when using outside resources.

 Suggestions for responding to your classmates’ posts include sharing insight on a different method to solve a problem or asking for clarification or suggesting there may be a different answer (without giving it away).
