Greetings!

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to our team of virtual English tutors! As a new

tutor with Open World Academy, you support our virtual English teachers in providing

varied learning pathways for students of the English language from all over the globe.

Each week you will provide exceptional tutoring experiences to 15–30 English learners

in one-hour virtual sessions.

This is a full-time, flexible hourly position that will range from 30 to 40 hours per week,

or more as you build a strong learner network. Our one-year experienced tutors average

45 hours per week, scheduling tutoring sessions based on the needs of the learner. To

start, you will work with one of our experienced tutors to schedule three to five sessions

daily to help you adjust to the demands of the sessions. After the three-week training

period, you will be able to schedule your own sessions but will still be able to reach out

to your experienced tutoring partner.

The starting wage is $22 per hour-long session, with monthly bonus opportunities

ranging from $100 to $1,000 based on positive reviews from your learners.

Occasionally, last-minute tutoring needs will be posted on our learner contact site.

These tutoring sessions will pay more due to the immediate need.

There are numerous opportunities for professional development offered by Open World

Academy, and as you progress through development opportunities, you may build the

skills necessary to become one of our choice virtual English teachers.

Getting Started With Open World Academy

Connectivity

As an employee of Open World Academy, you are required to meet certain

technological requirements:

 Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 7 or, if a Mac user, capability to run

Windows and Office applications through Bootcamp or Parallels

 2.0 GB of system memory (RAM)

 Single-core processor at 2.4 GHz or multi-core processor at 1.8 GHz

(manufactured on or after 2004)

 High-speed internet access (20 Mbps, minimum)

 A working headset and/or microphone for voice communication

 A minimum screen resolution of 1024x768

Applications

Open World Academy requires employees to use the provided web and desktop

applications for work.

Professional Development

Open World Academy offers numerous professional development opportunities for

teachers and support staff. Within our Academy website, there are several links to video

seminars relating to a variety of education-related topics. These are free to all faculty

and staff. In addition to our extensive training videos, full-time staff have the opportunity

to apply for a $500 scholarship to be applied to education-related seminars,

conferences, or continuing education opportunities of their choosing.

Employee Benefits

Health Insurance

Open World Academy offers a competitive health benefits package. Health insurance

benefits for the employee are deducted from each bi-weekly pay period in the amount of

$150. Spouses may be added to the health insurance package in the amount of $75.

Additional dependents (including spouse) may be added in as a family package for a

total premium cost of $300 bi-weekly.

Dental Insurance

Open World Academy does not currently offer dental insurance.
