Greetings!
It is our distinct pleasure to offer you the position of feature journalist for our daily
newspaper, the Telegraph Gazette. Our newspaper has a daily distribution of 27,000
and a Sunday distribution of 34,000. As a feature writer, you will be out in our
community, tracking the idea and telling the story to connect our readers to the world
around them. This position will involve some travel, and basic expenses are paid for by
the company when necessary. The starting salary for this position is $27,000 per year
paid on a weekly basis.
As a member of Independent Publishing Inc., our employees have a collectively
negotiated benefits package that will be re-negotiated in 3 years. This benefits package
includes 3 weeks of paid vacation, 10 floating paid holidays, health insurance, vision
and dental insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with a 3% employer match. Please see
the attached benefits sheet for more information on the contributions and allowances of
these benefits.

The Independent Publishing Inc. collective bargaining agreement provides the following
benefits package:
Healthcare
Feel Good HMO is offered to all full-time employees and part-time employees working
over 30 hours per week on average. There is no deductible, and the cost is $20 for the
employee, deducted weekly from your paycheck. For employee and spouse, the cost is
$32/week; for employee, spouse, and dependents, the cost is $35/week.
Vision
See Better Vision Care is offered to all full-time employees and part-time employees
working over 30 hours per week. This vision plan costs $10 monthly for employee-only
coverage. Dependents and spouses can join the plan for an additional $1 each per
month. Each person enrolled in the plan is entitled to two annual visits and one pair of
glasses or contact lens allowance up to $300 per person. There are $25 copayments for
each visit.
Dental
Choppers Dental Care is offered to all full-time employees and part-time employees
working over 30 hours per week. Employee-only dental coverage is deductible and
copayment-free for a monthly cost of $1.23. Spouses and dependents can be added to
the plan for $1.23/month each.
Retirement
All employees are eligible to contribute to a 401(k) through one of our three partnered
providers. There is a maximum 3% annual salary match available from Independent
Publishing Inc.
