CACREP Accreditation Information

While Liberty’s residential M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision have been accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) for some time, on Oct. 21-24, 2018, the Council will be conducting a site visit to evaluate Liberty’s online Professional Counseling program for accreditation as well. The program expects a final board vote on the accreditation in January 2019. This visit comes after much hard work, perseverance, diligence, and commitment to excellence by School of Behavioral Sciences faculty and staff, which has resulted in a positive initial review of the self-study by CACREP staff and board members.

Admission Requirements for Our Online M.A. in Professional Counseling Degree

A regionally or nationally accredited Bachelor’s degree with a 2.7 or above cumulative combined GPA is required for admission in good standing. Please visit our Admission Requirements Page for more detailed admissions information.

All applicants must submit the following:

· Admission Application

· Application fee*

· Two Recommendations (submitted through the Electronic Recommendation Form)

· Personal Statement

· Agreement to Mission Statement and Diversity Statement

· Unofficial college transcripts can be accepted with a completed official transcript request form**

· Official college transcripts, if available

· Proof of English proficiency

*There is no upfront application fee; however, a deferred $50 application fee will be assessed during financial check-in. This fee is waived for qualifying service members, veterans, and military spouses – documentation verifying military status is required.

**An official transcript is needed within 60 days of acceptance or before non-attendance drops for the first set of matriculated classes, whichever comes first
