To contruct a well-reasoned opinion on an issue
To understand the fluidness of information and opinioons on issues that are still unfolding
To hone your writing skills
What you need to do:
Please read Public Works’ “What is a Master Narrative?”
Use the link in the D2L to access the Public Works.
Write an essay using the following prompts:
What is a master narrative?
Distinguish between story, master narrative and parable.
How do “master narratives” help us understand complex issues?
Discuss Robert Reich’s four parables and how hope and fear are reflected in current events or government policies.
What would Frederick Jackson Turner’s “old pioneer conception of the obligations and opportunities of neighborliness” look like in your particular community?
Please remember, I am not looking for a right answer. I am more interested in your opinion and ability to support and defend your views.
