· Instructions:

This portion will consist of a Power Point presentation addressing the

misconceptions, myths, and controversies about a particular issue in Marriage & Family. See topic list in D2L. The final presentation should address the following components:

· Introduction:

Include demographics, prevalence, and definition. What is it? Who is

affected? How many people are affected? Which types of people? Include

social factors such as age, race/ethnicity, gender, social class, sexual

orientation, or religion.

· Causes/Contributing Factors:

What do researchers say causes or exacerbates this issue

· Misconceptions and/or Myths

-What are some common taken-for-granted assumptions about this issue?

-What is the reality according to the research?

· Controversy:

Is there anything about this issue that people are upset about or debate?

· Solutions

Both micro and macro level (i.e. at the everyday and structurally)

Requirements:

-12-15 slides

-In-text citations in APA formatting (see guide in Content folder)

-Works cited page (these should be full citations in APA formatting)

-3-4 sources, including 2 that are scholarly or academic in nature (to find these articles, you will use the MTSU library JEWL link within the project folder)

-Be sure to proofread!!!
