1. What are your names?

Maria Ramirez: (turns head laughing).

Luis Ramirez: (laughed like I am on a real interview looks down and shakes head).

2. What are your ages?

Maria: I am 42 (you not supposed to ask a woman her age smiles)

Luis: I am 46 (smirks)

3. How did you meet your spouse/ partner/ significant other?

Luis:( says I got this ill go first she don’t remember and start laughing) We meet in in (uhm) 1995 (yeah that’s it) I was driving this blue chevy impala 1979 ( smiling hard) I was dipping looking good smelling good ( smirking and pulling up his collar) me and my homies was going to a car show ( I’m in a car club Shanae if you didn’t know) and as I was cruising down the streets we decided to stop by the bathroom and park the car which we usually park in the middle ( smiling) as I was sitting outside my car I seen these three girls going to the bathroom ( smiling harder) and I see Maria and I knew she was going to be my wife (maria is smiling and blushing) so I went up to her spit some game let her sit in my car and we walked around looking at other cars and just talking and after that Shanae it was all over. (smiling)

Maria: Well there you go the love of my life (looking happy).

4. How long have you been together?

Maria: (grabbing her husband hand and smiling) 25 years.

Luis: many more to go (kissing her hand)

5. Can you discuss the phases of your courtship?

Maria: I mean what is there to discuss we love each other, and we vowed to be together until death do us apart. (looks up in the sky)

Luis: nothing to say.

6. How long before you were married?

Maria: I said yes 6 months later (laughing loud).

Luis: Dam its that funny (looking at her).

7. Can you describe your wedding?

Maria: I got this honey (smiling) she said Shanae we was so broke we went and got married in his parents back yard it was so horrible ( Luis looking at maria) but when we got married it was the best thing that ever happened to me. But do not get me wrong I love my wedding we just did not have the money to make it big and nice (shaking her head), but it meant a lot.

8. What is your occupation?

Maria: Post office attendant

Luis: Mailman

9. What commonalities do you have?

Maria: The love for cars, our job.

Luis: my love (then he says I guess)

10. What differences do you have?

Luis: She does not like sports (looks at her and laugh) sometimes she can be hurt easily.

Maria: (that is right) I have my feelings on my sleeve and its bad. His taste of cars. (looks at him)

11. Who makes the decisions in your relationship?

Maria: We both do depending on what it is we try to come together and take both stories. (both shaking their head saying yep).

12. What are the roles you occupy in your relationship?

Maria: I cook clean keep the house clean and make sure everything is good at home. (to much stuff)

Luis: I keep the yard clean and keep the yard clean grass cut and do all the manly stuff (you know).

13. Do you remember experiencing conflict or difficulty in your relationship? What was it over?

Maria: Yes, when it comes to the kids especially our daughter, she gets everything she wants and that is when it a big conflict, but it does not even mess up the relationship we have.

Luis: I knew she was gone say that (laughing) that’s my baby girl but yea it don’t affect me and my wife she will be mad for a couple of minutes and then she will be cool ( she looks at him).

14. How do you resolve conflict?

Luis: I honestly try to talk to her and if that does not work, I am in the garage until she relaxes (looks at maria)

Maria: Well I honestly try to get away from conflict Luis does not know how to talk to you and be so sensitive we just separate for an hour or two and ill be good and so will he. (we are working on this issue as we speak the communication is horrible (but that is my baby).

15. What are the difficulties facing couples today? Have you experienced any of these?

Luis: there are a lot of couples that have horrible communication and things don’t work out and the attitude its horrible because people don’t know that people love getting married and should want to be married and in love.

Maria: People are not into being couples these days because there is to much stuff in society and marriage is not in the beginning stages now everything is backward kids first and marriage last. (shaking her head).

16. What are your views on the future of your relationship?

Maria: Our goals are still standing we are going to be together forever and ever and I hope we have a more better life and continue to get better with God and make our relationship stronger and my family to continue to get stronger. (starting praying)

Luis: I just want us to keep getting stronger and keep our bond strong. (gives wife a kiss).
