Compassion as a Practical and Evolved Ethic for Conservation Summary Comment by Randy Lawrence: Needs proper assignment formatting. Who’s paper is this? Nmae, student number, instructor name, course number, date.

Nowadays, conservation specialists and land workers make such choices in their job which have an adverse influence on the life of other species. During this procedure, some animals which cause effects to other animals and humans are killed and their ache and death are often ignored (Fox CH, 2011). Conservation is not the issue but the way chosen for it is. However, animal welfare laws are only implemented on domestic animals and wild animals are usually ignored. It is clear that we cannot save all the individuals from eradication, but such mistreatment is not a conclusion. If we position the welfare of animals as a centerpiece, it would also be a barrier to scientific progress (Fox CH, 2011). Debate on the ethical importance of conservation is long in the tooth. Conservation specialists work regarding the well-being of forest animals and they reject practical views. It was noticed that the welfare of animals unexpectedly gave an advantage to humans as well (Gelcich S, 2008). The challenge for wild conservation society is to make sure whether their ongoing decisions are worth beneficial or not. On the bright side, both the conservation team and animal welfares are collaborating together to work on this task of lessening pain to wildlife. It is a type of dare for the two of them to achieve both conservation aims and protection of species together (Gelcich S, 2008). Comment by Randy Lawrence: Identify the article and author Comment by Randy Lawrence: What procedure? Comment by Randy Lawrence: affects Comment by Randy Lawrence: pain Comment by Randy Lawrence: These are the citations the authors use. You should be citing the author’s article, not their evidence. Comment by Randy Lawrence: Yes, but needs clarity. Comment by Randy Lawrence: Explain Comment by Randy Lawrence: What type of conclusion? Comment by Randy Lawrence: Where does it say this? I think you are referring to the section that says that “practice and policy evolves to accommodate contemporary moral systems and to incorporate the rapidly developing scientific understanding of the sentience and consciousness of nonhuman animals or whether, at a practical level, the trumping of welfare outcomes for individual animals by species.” Neither say science suffers. It is Comment by Randy Lawrence: Too informal Comment by Randy Lawrence: Not sure what you mean. Which conservation specialists? Comment by Randy Lawrence: What does this “it” refer to? Comment by Randy Lawrence: What was this advantage? Comment by Randy Lawrence: Animal welfare is a concept (the ethical treatment and protection of animals) while a conservationist is one who practices animal welfare. These two don’t necessary “collaborate”. Conservationists are responsible for animal welfare.

Persuasive Response

Wildlife is important for maintaining the balance of our Ecosystem. Extinction of species could be harmful to humans as well as they provide many benefits to them as well. For example, they fulfill many of our commercial, medicinal and agricultural needs. Clearing this issue will not only come by breeding or fulfilling the needs of these animals (Gelcich S, 2008). There are a lot of National and International Laws for protection of animals that are not implemented, like trading of Ivory was made illegal in 1990 by the Convention of International trade, but still, the trade of ivory is at its peak in Thailand. Sale of Ivory is banned in Thailand, still, the ivory of Elephants of Africa are smuggled in Thailand and sold in the shops (Illegal Wildlife Trade, 2019). Still many of the species are legal and open for trade like marine turtles and timber trees, and these species are over-exploited to the extreme limit and this has to be stopped immediately. People who share their lands with these species must be taught the way to live with them and earn from them without causing any damage (Gelcich S, 2008). Insect species are also as Comment by Randy Lawrence: This is a great essay, but it isn’t a persuasive response. The persuasive response needs to fully address the assigned task of defending this article's main claims against a naysaying audience, using focused analysis of the article's argumentation and writing.

important as any other type of animal because they are the main source of food for so many other species like mammals, birds and reptiles. They need to be protected as well because they lie at

the bottom of food chain. Pollution and Global Warming caused by Human beings also cause an effect on the lives of Wild animals. Nowadays another technique of Conservation of wildlife has also been spread that is commercial breeding that referred to as wildlife farming (Sanam Naz, 2016).

Protecting all of these species can pay us off in many ways for instance, we will have rich biodiversity which gives us fertile soil, clean water, and clear air. Most of the researchers have this point of view that it may also help us in finding the cure of Cancer disease as there is a cure in a type of coral that has been protected for many years (Goetz J, 2010). Experts also fear that

secretive mammals might go extinct within some years for instance Panda. So, these species must be protected and conserved before they all get extinct. People also kill animals for addition to their meat, organs, and other body parts. Many animal species are being traded around the

world, for instance, mammals, which include elephants and monkeys (Goetz J, 2010). In addition to many popular plants and pets are also being traded and are being smuggled for money. Many animals die on the roads as they are hit by cars. The people working in wildlife must look on these matters and do something to minimize the deaths of these animals.

Audience description

My audience for this project was my group of friends. All of the friends were of this view that the extinction of the animals must be stopped at any cause. These animals at risk should be protected at any cost. We should all work together to protect these animals Comment by Randy Lawrence: The instructions are to explain who the naysayers would be for the authors of the article. Who would be in opposition to what the authors were arguing?

Feedback:

I am able to see that you understand the article, although some points are misinterpreted (eg. "compassionate conservation means science suffers"). Unfortunately, there is much that impedes comprehension.

This is a good start, but the persuasive response doesn't fully address the assigned task of defending this article's main claims against a naysaying audience. Your commentary offers some useful reflections about why the article's topic needs more attention, but what is needed here is some more focused analysis of the article's argumentation and writing.

Two things I am suggesting. 1) Simplify your sentences. Start with the noun (person place or thing of the sentence) and the verb (the action). "The author argues..." "The article's purpose is..." "A narrative is a ...". Stay away from the thesaurus. Many words do not mean exactly as the word you are looking up (eg. composer, awesome, immune) and end up changing the meaning of the sentence.
