Chapter 12 of this week reading covers research ethics. From reading this research I have learned about many unethical researches that have taken place in the past. One of the unethical studies that was done and that we have heard or learned about in the past is the Tuskegee syphilis study that many died from deceptions, because of omission of or lack of proper medication given or not given. During a research there are some guidelines and standards that must be followed, before and during a study that the researchers must abide to. Three principles of ethical standard for human research are respect for person, beneficence and justice. The ethical aspect of any research mandates that consent is clearly stated, and confidentiality is maintained unless legally necessary (Tappen, R. 2016).

Chapter 13 is about participant recruitment. Participant recruitment is essential to the success of a research study. The proper recruitment must be attained in order for the study to be valid and effective. There are ten steps to the enrollment of the proper participant; Such as specify, develop, contact, disseminate, ask, consent, screen, enroll, retain, and report. These steps are crucial to attaining the right individual for a study (Tappen, R. 2016).
