First of all, Nelson Mandela and his men was in bad commodities. In fact the environment in what they lived was so disgusting. For example, they were<>. The most deplorable scene was that they would strip them and put their clothes in cold water only to make their life difficult because their will get cold. All those examples have been related just to show in what conditions their were living those political people, fathers, treated like criminals.

Second adversity is threatened to be killed. The warders were demanded the prisoners to jog but Mandela did not follow the warder’s command because he wanted to show them that they were not actual criminal however political prisoners being punished for their beliefs. Even though the warders ordered them, they kept walking slowly. Then the warder stopped them and threatened to be killed that they are loved ones like their wives and children’s, mothers and fathers would not know what would happened to them. The warder rudely warned them last time and enjoyed with the threat.

Arrived at the island, Mandela and the others were not being treated the way they were supposed to be. For example they were forced to walk in some type of way, or being beaten for having long hair. Afternoon seeing  those conditions, they started being stubborn towards the officers because first of all they were no ordinary prisoners, they were political prisoners who were being punished their beliefs and also the officers were not taking care of them within the law. As they were much educated and knowledgeable, they wanted to stand up for their rights and teach those ignorant officers how to conduct themselves.

In conclusion, Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners suffered adversities in Robben island. Even though they were not a criminal, they were bullied and suppressed by the examples that are mentioned above. They did not even have freedom of speech and pace of walking. However, after they expressed disobedience to wanders, they were able to show their guiltless. Mandela had a great influence in human rights movement after being released from the prison. As a result, he experienced hard times due to his righteous argument, but it turned out he contributed to human rights and became crucial figure as president. Overcoming adversities made Mandela an influential, memorable person.
