    (5 ECTS)

Mandatory assignment

  • The assignment is an 8 pages’ synopsis produced either as an individual assignment or as a group assignment in groups at 2 max. 4 persons.
  • Examination:
  • Individual examination based on the synopsis. Duration 20 minutes plus 10 minutes deliberation and feedback. The grade is based on your oral presentation.

  • Definition:
  • The word synopsis means "a summary of something longer".
  • Therefore, a synopsis in this context is: A shorter text that aims to provide a comprehensive overview of your task.

Synopsis content:

  • A synopsis should always present the study's problem. It should therefore contain:
  • Table of contents
  • Preface:
  • Here you write something in general about your topic. In the introduction you warm up and awaken the reader's interest. Why is the subject important and interesting? Why have you chosen this topic? You may use an argument based on personal interest - but do not be too personal.
  • NB! Be careful not to spend too much space on your introduction - half a page is appropriate.

The problem statement and purpose you are working on:

  • Here you must identify your topic and its issue - your research problem or research questions. What are you going to investigate, discuss, analyze - or try to find an explanation for? Perhaps you have a claim (a hypothesis), something you would like to argue for?
  • What is the purpose of your project?

Delimitation:

  • Which corner of your topic do you want to focus on?
  • Show that you have taken a position and deliberately left out something that could also have been involved. Explain your choice.

Presentation of theory, empiricism and methodology

  • What research methods will you use? Describe your method. What does it consist of?
  • Perhaps your method is based on one or more theories. Describe it / them shortly.
  • Why have you chosen this method / theory? How can your method and / or theory choices help to work with your problem?

The synopsis is to be uploaded to Wiseflow on may 4 no later than 12.00h.
