 We suggest that you avoid writing in the first person (“I”); rather the third person is recommended (e.g. it can therefore be suggested that...).

Use of literature:

 Use academic source, i.e. books, journal articles etc. Refer to respected industry sources DO NOT overuse the Internet, do not use and / or quote from Wikipedia.

Reminder:

 You are required to use proper in-text reference and the reference list in the end using the Harvard Referencing System.

The writing:

 Try to approach this assignment in a logical and systematic way. Make sure you have a logical structure, a convincing argument, clear description of the situations which ‘set the scene’, and clear explanation which relate to theories, and a conclusion that draws your argument together.

The submission should include:

• Topic to be considered for your area of research

• Ethical consideration (including completion of your Ethics Form)

• Your research question(s) and objectives

• Outline of issues to be considered and research activities to be undertaken

• Research methodology

• Suggested primary and/or secondary research to be considered

• Outline of potential findings

• Research plan of activities and timings

Threshold expectations

In order to pass Assessment 1 you will need to:

• Justify a choice of project and appraise its feasibility.

• Formulate a plan for a major project by developing aims and

objectives and designing an outline method of analysis.

• Determine theories that may be appropriate for the project.

Managerial Project Proposal Structure

1. Introduction

• Topic to be considered for your area of research

• Give contextual or background information of your project

• Establish the scope of your project (covering research questions, aim and objectives)

• Highlight the rationale of your study

2. Theoretical Frameworks and Literature Review

• Theories, models and frameworks which you will be using and the relevance of those theories, models and frameworks to your study / project and its connection to your question.

(key arguments, limitations and how relevant those theories / models to the chosen project / topic.)

• List the main aspects of your literature review and explain why these are relevant to your research.

• Review relevant literature within each aspects and summarise their impact on the project.

3. Research methodology

• Identify aspects of your research methodology (i.e. Philosophy, approach, methods, data collection, sampling (if applicable only) and data analysis. You must also provide justifications of why such method is deemed as the most appropriate for the topic.

• Explain how you intend to implement each of the above mentioned (where applicable).

• Explain the ethical issues considered (if applicable )and fill the ‘ethics form’.

• Explain your expected sources of information (What data will be appropriate and will be used in your study and from where you will get these data)

4. Potential outcomes

• Summarise what you expect to find or to add to the knowledge gathered from previous work

• Draw the key points together and consider potential outcomes (implications for your project and practice)

• You must include the Research plan of activities and timings

References / Bibliography • BOTH are COMPULSORY

References List and the Bibliography List should be prepared as two separate lists.

Should comprise a variety of sources used in the text, most of which should be academic journal articles. Other sources could include books, trade publications, news articles, industry reports, company websites etc.

Intext Citation, References and Bibliography should follow the Harvard Style.

(Harvard referencing style is compulsory)

• Introduction /Rationale : 20%

• Methodology : 30%

• Potential Outcomes : 10%

• Structure/Presentation/Referencing : 10%

Turnitin will be used for all submissions to check for plagiarism.

University also reserves the right to initiate a viva voce examination if examiners have concerns regarding the originality of your submission.

You need to be available for such an event following the submission of your dissertation.
