1. In this article demeanor is discused as a way somone is presenting themselves and how they want to be portrayed by others. When it coes to police officers they must be bale to change their demeanor in order to better fit the situation they are currently dealing with. The author discusses how there can be many different reasons why a cop may have a different reasons for changing his demeanor. He explained how they have to change the way they act and handle certain situations based on what they are responding too as well as what information they were given by dispatch that other may not know about.
2. Demeanor means how a person will react and behave, and how their actions will be. One person can react so calmly and someone can react in a completely oppist way, everyone has their own way of reacting. Police and citizens may not always have the best outcome, but it's always best to keep calm. It's easy to make a decision when you're mad it's best not to react fast, and figure out the situation. Emotions can change a lot of situations where we are acting calm, mad, sad, or excited. Officer's have to be aware of how an individual is reacting.

One aspect of demeanor is known as deference, or someone leeway as a gesture of showing respect, approval, or admiration (Dunham & Alpert, 2008). Furthermore, Durham and Alpert believe that every action made by an individual has the ability to affect the other party. Therefore, a person's demeanor fluctuates contingent on their environment. For example, many times law enforcement agents arrive at a crime scene in a calm manner; however, if the suspect or perpetrator is hype, aggressive or rowdy, the officer’s mood will shift to match the mood of the person. After several failed attempts to gain control over the situation, the law enforcement agent will usually become agitated, and which often escalate the situation.
4. Demeanor can meant to be understood as a persons behavior or way of acting at a given time and under changing conditions. Almost anything can cause changes in the demeanor of the citizen and the police officer during an encounter. Examples that are commonly seen can revolve around violent behavior/murder, accidents and personal injury to either of them, or even an emergency like a fire/natural disaster. Many things can go wrong in situation like the ones just mentioned and the added panic or confusion of the conditions provided can influence the decisions made by the actors to perform or be affected in good or bad ways.

Once the officers used enough verbal force only in attempt to calm down the conflict, they will become agitated, and then their demeanor will change and will be more aggressive with the situation.
