MAN4504 Final Report
A. Identify and discuss the primary strategic approach you took in the simulation and your logic for why.
The one primary approach that we used in this simulation is adapting the company's current situation and then establishing a model that could help run the simulation process effectively. It was necessary to ensure that the simulator model generated should match up with the organization's strategies and should not affect the culture of the company. The main reason for selecting this simulation is that it helps identify the uncertainties that can be attached to the simulation process and identify the probability distribution of its performance.
B. Did the priorities or tactics change as the simulation went along? If so, how and why? If not, why?
Yes, the priorities kept changing along the way as the simulation progressed. The priorities changed because as the simulation progressed, it was possible to identify the extent of the company's situation, thus realizing that there is a gap between the set priorities for the simulation and the actual situation at the company. After understanding the company's true situation, it was necessary to make changes to the priorities to ensure that the objectives of the simulation. Additionally, the modification to the priorities was necessary to ensure that the employees were well prepared for the outside world.
C. What were the results, and were you satisfied? Why or why not?
Yes, I was satisfied with the results at the end of the simulation program because I found them satisfactory. After the simulation came to completion, the following results were recorded: the employees were motivated to deliver on the organization's needs. Additionally, more attention was directed towards the interests of the stakeholders and the investors. The employees became more aware of their responsibilities in the company and were motivated to deliver on them. Finally, efforts to improve the delivery of the needs of the client were taken up.
D. What were your greatest challenges and surprises during the simulation?
Carrying out an efficient simulation process for an organization is not an easy fit, and it is likely to experience several challenges and problems. Some of the challenges that were experienced during this simulation include: the employees showed some resistance to the kind of environment that was established for the simulation in the organization. The normal working at the organization was affected because a new working environment was implemented, affecting the working of the environment. Additionally, conducting the simulation was costly to the company both financially and time. Finally, the communication channels were not efficient.
E. Given what you know now, what would you do differently? Explain your logic.
Considering the process and the results generated from the simulation, there are several factors that I would have done differently, and they include paying more attention when developing the communication channels. Pay more attention to the implemented environment to ensure it does not differ much from the company's actual environment to prevent any effects on the operations of the company. Finally, I would have conducted proper budgeting to avoid an unnecessary increase in the cost and time.
F. What is the consensus of the team as to the value of this simulation to your educational experience?
This simulation will help us understand how to evaluate an organization using simulations, and this is one of the objectives of this course in our academic lives.
