Magazine Draft

MagazineDraftAssignment.pdf

You will create a 3-page magazine design, the cover, and a center spread (two facing pages). No ad page is allowed for the center spread. Use 8.5” x 11” portrait pages. You will find it helpful if you leave "facing pages" checked in InDesign. This will give you one page for the cover and then two pages next to each other for the spread.

For the mechanical/execution part of the design, I will be looking at format, formula, frame, the function of your magazine which means your cover and the grid used for your spread are cohesive.

All headlines, subheads, and captions should be real English text with meaning. The body copy may be a placeholder copy from InDesign. You need to design these pages based on all the design principles we covered throughout the semester.

Please export the raw InDesign file into a PDF, and submit both. You will not receive the maximum amount of points if you don't submit both.

In a Word document, identify and discuss (just as you did in the previous assignments):

● Message and audience ● Tone and style ● Color choice and the type choice ● Contrast, balance, repetition, alignment, and flow

I assume that you understand that there needs to be colors and images (even if the images are temporary)… Submitting a blank document with just headlines is not acceptable or sufficient to receive credit. Please carefully review the rubric before turning in your assignment.

Please review the grading rubric before submitting the assignment draft.
