MACRO PRACTICE Video Reflection and Application of Macro Concepts

The purpose of this assignment is to engage students and to facilitate rich discussions. Students are required to

participate in a small group discussion via a WebEx meeting lasting at least 45-60 minutes. Each student will be

randomly assigned to a group. You will utilize emails, Webex, Google Hangout, etc. to communicate. Every

group member is required to equally participate in the discussion. Your group will turn in ONE assignment that

is 1-2 pages highlighting key and important topics discussed during the meeting.

This assignment will be completed after reviewing the video Glen Martin Fortune Society. After reviewing the

video, you will review the macro concepts listed below and reflect on how this program incorporated or

responds to these issues in their structure, services and/or within the community they live and serve. The goal is

to demonstrate your ability to recognize macro concepts that impact agency and community development,

policy, population, diversity, resource responsibility, etc. that have been outlined in your readings and Power

Point slides.

a) Structure of Leadership, Employees and/or Administration/Oversight

b) Evidence based research to address recidivism/relapse and correlation to education, employability,

etc.

c) Strengths perspective in services

d) Training to influence Agency Culture

e) Resource Management and Priorities

f) Cultural Competency

g) Community- describe all partners and who have to be involved in these agency discussions and how

they link to the social problem agency addresses. Who needs to be involved in the dialogue?

Demonstrate understanding of the ecological perspective?

h) Impact of Policy on clients served- intentional or unintentional?

i) Reflect on “Changing the Narrative” as relates to macro practice.

j) Reflect on the success of implementing these macro concepts in this project
