I have learned a lot regards to operational techniques that could potentially improve healthcare access, costs and quality and a wealth of information in childhood obesity which was my chosen public health issue.
Childhood obesity is not just an epidemic but a truly sad reality that this country is faced with. Luckily, future advancements in healthcare could have a positive influence on this especially for the rural or underserved by cutting cost of delivery. As mentioned in the video they now have microchips that analysis blood results faster and cheaper than ever before. This eliminates the cost associated with operating an entire laboratory. Wireless scales and Fitbit like devices are amazing for the obese child who loves technology and can have a positive influence over behavior change.

I have had a very positive learning experience from this class and looking objectively at the economic side of healthcare from an administrator's perspective. This will be a resource that I will most definitely use in the future.
The Future of Healthcare is an exciting time and it is my hope that with the modern advancements in research regarding mental health and PTSD diagnosis, that the fear and stigma of a diagnosis will no longer lead to shame but to treatment and success stories. 22 suicides a day is an approximation within the veteran community alone and that is 22 too many. With the research regarding PTSD, treatments centered around cultural and evidenced based care as well as providers being available anytime via video chat will reduce the feeling of isolation and despair. I too hope to see federally funded care covered by all clinically trained providers so that the wait times are decreased and the issues of geography are eliminated.
It has been a pleasure learning along side you all. Good luck with your future courses!
