PEER1-MP

in your own words, define leadership and describe its relevance to social change agency.

Leadership is the ability to lead a person or a group of people to place while with skill and integrity. The reason why this is important to me is because no one wants to follow a person who hasn’t been where they are trying to go and will not stick to their morals. To in act social change the leader must not conform to every fad or change that takes place in world. Somethings and ideals may need to be upgraded but not changed. Every time a leader changes their mind a leader changes the minds of those who follows them or that person influences. That’s why most groups are seen as relevant as times changes, and it allows for social changes too last through the times.

What aspects of your personality or lived experience inspire the leader in you?

Apart of my personality is that I am a natural contrarian. I often go away from that which is mainstream or even popular, because from my personal experience that which is mainstream takes you down a stream you do not want to go. I often want to encourage people and lead them away from the dangers of what I lived through. There are times where a leader could be going the wrong direction and lead a people where they didn’t want to go, but because they trust the leader the still follow blindly. As leaders we need to be sensitive to where we are taking the people following us.

As a leader of a team working to achieve a goal in your workplace, group, or community, describe how you would promote communication, collaboration, and motivation.

I promote communication. collaboration, and motivation by making known to all people in my group that you can get a hold of me when needed. If you create a culture that is not centered around the leader, but it centered around the mission in which we accomplished then everyone will learn to lean on each other rather than just the leader. Do not get me wrong a leader has the final say, but a leader can’t do every aspect of the mission, vision, and purpose. The best way to do this is by leading by example.

Describe which aspect of emotional intelligence you believe best supports your ability to be an effective leader and why.

Social skills best support my abilities as an effective leader. The ability to talk to anyone and at any age allows me to be able to seem relatable to anyone in any circumstance. Even if I really don’t fully understand the person and what they are going through the person feels welcomed and able to get things off their chest. This allows people to buy in easily because people won’t care for your vision if you don’t first care for their life’s vision.

Describe how leadership and goal setting connect to one of the following programmatic themes:

Ethics is important when it comes to leadership and goal settings. We must make sure that we as leaders are ethical about personal and business decisions. If we don’t use ethics were bound to make moral failures out of ourselves and then are goals that we set may take those who follow us down a wrong path. If we are setting goals past our groups abilities this may lead to a bad decision that can be very costly.

How does the content of this interview relate to the learning in this module?

The content from the participants seems to have a central theme, there WHY is what leads them to act as leaders. Their own personal experiences lead to help those who have hurt or felt disenfranchise as they have felts. If they were the fortunate ones to have the resources and support to succeed, they use those tools and skills to help those who are currently less fortunate then they are.

How can you relate to what the interview participant has shared?

I can relate to the video participants because I too am fueled by making sure no one must go through the things I have been through to have success in my life. I do not want men to feel that they must conform to the misguided version of manhood to realize their power as a man. I do want woman to fill they have to conform to a misguided version of womanhood to succeed. It is my why that keeps me pushing so I can turn more people into agents of change rather than products of conformity.
