My thesis statement: (See the thesis pattern in CORE course pack- p. 40) The UDHR is a valuable tool for understanding the life of Chinese workers and immigrants in Canada in the CBC News video, “Not Welcome Anymore”. This will be made clear through the following theoretical concepts: Article 13, Article 23, and Article 9. This will be made clear through the following events: Loui’s immigration story, Anti-Asian movement, and Loui’s unpleasant experience as a Canadian citizen. B. Loui Tong’s family who came to Canada in 1986 as a farm laborer. His family worked very hard and got up at 3am to sell their product (CBC, n.d.).

2. Anti-Asian movement in Chinatown Chinese only were welcome to do the jobs that the white didn’t want. The white union didn’t accept their membership. White workers destroyed Chinse homes and businesses, smashed the windows, beat up Chinese citizens, aggressively said “get out of this country” (CBC, n.d.).

3. Loui’s unpleasant experience as a Canadian citizen: - No voting right, no franchise, restricted business licenses - forced to live in Chinatown. -Loui bought a house in West Vancouver. White neighbors didn’t want him to live in their neighborhood (CBC, n.d.).
