Purpose o f the Applied Research Strategy Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Add literary support to each paragraph

The purposeobjective of the applied research strategy study is to evaluate the relationship between leadership behavior and employee performance. Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Expand on the purpose. Statement is nicely written. I just changed two words

Research Design

The descriptive correlational design will be built on the concepts of comparative designs, which simply provide a description of the phenomenon as they took place in two or more settings and groups among the two variables related with the phenomena. In this case, the descriptive correlational design will be used to describe the existence of associations between leadership behavior and employee performance and relationships. The main variables that will be investigated will include leadership behavior and employee performance. Leadership behavior will be categorized in terms of constructive behavior and destructive leadership behavior. These two major variables will be weighed based on their impacts on employee performance. The constructiveness and destructiveness of leadership behavior will be comprised of two major dimensions. They will include subordinate and organization-oriented behaviors, as well as anti-subordinate and anti-organization-oriented behaviors. Other smaller variables that will form the basis of destructiveness or constructiveness of leadership will include pro-subordinate and pro-organization behaviors. The subordinate-related behaviors will be described in terms of behaviors that are expressed by the leader such as bullying or granting praises on followers. These types of behaviors significantly influence followers’ motivation, welfare, and degree of job satisfaction. On the other hand, organization-related traits will be described in terms of behaviors of the leader that sabotages the goal realization or implementation of the change that impact the attainment of work goals and objectives. Further, the constructive leadership traits will be described in terms of managers who possess both pro-subordinate and pro-organization-related behaviors. Further, destructive leadership will be described in terms of either anti-subordinate-related, anti-organization oriented or both.

Setting or Subjects Selected for the Study Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Separate into two headings- these are two very different things.

The study will be conducted within organizational settings. Two firms will be selected for the research. The two organizations will be in two different towns to reduce possible biases or inaccuracies. Thereafter, participants will be selected with the use of stratified random sampling. These participants will include leaders and followers. For instance, managers and supervisors will be selected to represent leaders, while both junior and senior employees will be selected to represent followers. Each of these participants will be given questionnaires and interview questions to determine their leadership behaviors and employee performance respectively. Stratified random sampling is a sampling procedure that entails undertaking a process of stratifying or segregating participants, followed by randomized selection of the subjects from each stratum. The population is often sub-categorized into mutually exclusive groups that are relevant, appropriate, and meaningful within the context of the research (Sekaran & Bougie, 2016).  The reason as to why stratified random sampling is going to be used for this study is that it enables the researcher to trace the variations in the parameters of the subgroups within the selected populations. If either the simple random sampling or the systematic sampling process was to be utilized in such situations, then the high motivation of certain job levels and the low motivation at other levels would cancel each other, thereby hiding the real challenges that are present at levels. In addition, as soon as the populations have been stratified in some meaningful ways, a sample of the members from each stratum can be developed with the utilization of either a simple random sampling, or systemic sampling process. Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Any more thoughts about organization- size, type of industry, etc? Will you choose them or will you look for a response to a posting inviting participants? Comment by Michelle Cheasty: From here down is sampling procedures Comment by Michelle Cheasty: To do this- each person will need a random number assigned using a random number generator, then chosen at random using a random number selector. Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Identify each strata for the study. Will anyone be excluded?

Research Questions

The following research study is guided by the following overarching research question: WRITE YOUR OVERARCHING RESEARCH QUESTION. The research study is then further guided by the following sub- questions?

1. What are theAre there impacts of destructive leadership on employee performance Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Make sure you identify performance as well as productivity Comment by Michelle Cheasty: No and statements. You want your research questions not to imply that something exists (biased statements). I reworded a few of these.

2. Are there impacts of destructive leadership on and productivity?

3. What are theAre there impacts of constructive leadership on employee performance

4. Are there impacts of constructive leadership onand productivity?

5. How does destructive leadership affect employee wellbeing and trust? Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Follow questions 1-4 to break these into separate statements

6. How does constructive leadership affect employee wellbeing and trust?

7. How dDoes leadership behavior affect employee satisfaction?

Research Design Strategy Comment by Michelle Cheasty: Combine this with the research design information above

The main research design strategy that will be used for this study is descriptive design. Descriptive design will be utilized to give insights into the relationship between leadership behavior and employee performance and relations (Ang, 2014). As a result, a sample of 200 participants will be selected. This design will help to provide a description of the relationship between leadership behavior and employee performance, in terms of their views, attitudes, behaviors, and opinions in relation to leadership behaviors. These variables will be measured and evaluated within a specified period, situation, and environment. Thus, the point of focus of this descriptive design will be to undertake a careful mapping out of circumstances, situations, and collection of events in order to describe what is essentially taking place.

The descriptive design will take the form of field study or survey of the two organizations that will be selected. Therefore, there will be needed to utilize questionnaires, telephone interviews, and face-to-face interrogations to gather data. The survey instruments will take the form of branching questions. These will require a different kind of question for people who react differently at a specific point or branch in the instrument. This will also include utilization of open-ended questions. These questions will require more detailed efforts to undertake coding and tabulation than s required for fixed response items that are often common in other types of questions. The surveys will be important since they are considerably easy to develop and administer to the prospective respondents (McNabb, 2015).  The high presence of computer systems and statistical analysis software packages will make it easier to tabulate and interpret data.
