How do you plan to manage your capstone journey so you can avoid procrastination and maintain work/life balance?

Based on your program of study and using the DHA Doctoral Study material, develop a preliminary plan of study and timeline. Summarize the result of your plan.

Part 5: Research Topics ( Women health center)

Describe a research topic that interests you and is important to the discipline.

Express your initial ideas for a potential capstone. 

Identify academic and professional communities that will help you find a place in the discipline and pursue your research goals.

Part 1:

Write a post in which you reflect on and share your thoughts on each of the following prompts:

1. As a practitioner-scholar, how can you make an impact on positive social change?

2. How can you translate your passion (advocacy) into research (scientific inquiry)?

Part 2:

Use the Office of Research and Doctoral Services’ “Developing Research” page to examine resources on developing a research problem.

Write an initial post in which you:

· Develop one potential research problem that relates to your HSO and explain what led you to this research problem.

· Support your research problem with at least one scholarly resource.

Part 3:

Select at least two threads to initially post one resource each that will support you and your peers in your capstone journey.

For each resource, keep it simple. Include:

· A brief description of what you found and which  competency it supports.

· Why it jumped out at you

· The benefit it provides

Part 4:

In your  Week 7 response, post an explanation of your thoughts on:

· How long does it take to write a 5-page paper?

· Based on that, how long do you think it will take to conduct original research and write a capstone of 100 pages with multiple chapters?

· What are some time-management strategies you could use to ensure you make consistent progress and graduate on time?

In your  Week 8 response, post an explanation of your thoughts on:

· Your ability to meet the requirements of your program given that you need focused time

· When is the best time to work? In other words, when do you have uninterrupted time away from other pressures?

· How will you manage a work/life balance - professional, personal, school and the barriers to being successful in all three? How will you stay motivated? How will you stay on track?

Part 5:

Here in Module 5, you will complete Part 5 of the Journey Log, which asks you to respond to the following prompts:

1. Describe a research topic that interests you and is important to the discipline. 

2. Express your initial ideas for a potential capstone.

3. Identify academic and professional communities that will help you find a place in the discipline and pursue your research goals.
