It also tends to explains the best practices that the government can adopt to ensure that children from low income families gain equally access to effective health care services without any form of discrimination on the basis of tribe, color, race, gender and level of economicy status. By the end of this Literature Review, the student must have gathered enough information on the Impacts of Poverty to children in poor families.

Emotional Impacts.

Amin (2014) discuses that poverty has extreme emotional effects on children and the family as a whole. RThrough their research findings , he indicates that majority of the parents in poor communities normally encounter several life challenges . These challenges go beyond just simple stress, depressive symptoms and aggravation. These challenges in turn render the parents unable to execute properly plan and providening for their various families. The parents are unable to plan, prepare and provide for the needs of their individual families as required. He argues that the parents become so stressed up to the extent that they cannot fully support the family by providing proper housing, food and other basic needs. Because of extreme depression these parents are subjected to, they also engage in substance abuse hence portraying a bad image to the children themselves.

The article “The impact of poverty on children in out-of-home care services in a Chinese context and the application of multiple family group therapy to enrich their family lives. Children and Youth Services Review, 2017”, Wong and Chan through research in Chinese context argue that children who are placed in out-of-home care in Hong Kong suffered mental illness and substance abuse. They discuss that these children have a low self-esteem as compared to other children. Wong specifically notes that majority of the children admitted in this facility had been prolonged users of substance abuse and some were already addicted to drugs by the time they came into the facility. He discusses that the root cause is poverty that exposed the children to substance abuse hence causing more mental problems to the children as early as the age of ten. The article also discusses how the government has failed to implement aAffordable healthcare policies hence children cannot access physical and mental healthcare in the time they best need it.

Wong (2017) explains that children in low income families suffered emotional problems such as low-self-esteem, depression and anxiety. He adds that children living in poverty are a greater risks of emotional and behavioral problems. The harsher parenting behaviors exhibited by parents lead exposes children also to violence. The authors therefore discuss the best practices that are adopted at various rehabilitation centers to help the children fully recover from their mental illnesses. However, they are sure to warn parents to adopting poor parents’ habits. They encourage parents to avoid keep off from depression, marital distress, chronic stress and harsh parenting behaviors. Through the articles parents are urged to adopt best parenting practices regardless of their economic status.

Social Impacts.

`Machell, Kyla et.al in Machell (their article “Social Indicators Research, 2016) , Vol.126 (2). Pp.845-861”, discusses on the failure of the government to establish rehabilitation centers, guidance and counselling and vocational training centers. They describe how important these centers are especially for youths who did not get an opportunity to complete schooling due to absurd poverty they were exposed to. The author argues that these children turn to crime as means, looking for means of survival. The rate of immorality thereby goes up. Such areas therefore become susceptible to cases such as rape. Disabato (2016:850), argues that rate of crime amongst teens will always be on the rise when government does not is ignorant about implementing vocational training centers, and other government sponsored programs aimed at helping the youths secure a bright future.

Gyamfi and Phyllis (2004) in their article, “Children and Youth Services Review, 2004, Vol.26 (12), pp.1129-1139”, discusses that when children leave their homes to go and settle in the streets as a result of abject poverty, they meet other streets children who have already adopted bad behaviors and they also join them. There will be a higher number of street children in streets which also increase the rate of immorality in the streets. Berzin et al., (2010: 280) puts a lot of emphasis on the topic of sex and education through his article and others authors. In their article, Sex and Education, they findargue that children living in poor communities learn about and engage in get to know of sex and engage in it at young very tender ages. De Marco (2010:279) finds that puts it that young girls living in poorer rural communities in the rural set uplose break their virginity at early ages as compared to young girls in the urban settlements. According to their research, the most affected gender were the girls where almost 50% of them living in poor rural communities did not complete primary schooling as a result of teenage pregnancy. Comment by Anna Muraco: give an age range

The rate of School dropout was also determined to be very high which added into the high numbers of teens who were affected by HIV/AIDS. Ristikari and MeriKukka, et.al through peer reviewed their journal discussed the negative academic outcomes and other behavioral problems that children in the low income families faced. (Gissler, 2013:23). Comment by Anna Muraco: why is this included in the social rather than health aspects?

Heath Impacts.

In the article, “Access to Mental Health Services: The Struggle of Poverty Affected Urban Children of Color,. Child and Adolescent Social Work Journal, 22(3), 245-256”. Gonzalez discusses risks urban children of color are exposed to, including. He discusses that these children are exposed to greater risks of developing mental problems. The article discuses that children of color suffer are less likely to receive effective child mental health services and so their condition on the other hand will continue to deteriorate. Madariaga, Abello et all. (2016:3667) adds that the circumstances under poverty can influence a child’s development. Their study was conducted in low income regions of Northern Columbia and found . The study indicated that 18% of the children of children ion the poorer regions of Northern Columbia had suffered development delays according to their age groups. They recommend that there is an impending need of the government to better improve the environmental conditions through creation of jobs. By so doing, they argue that it will help parents improve their caregiving practices.

In the article, “Anemia among children in a drought affected community in south-central Ethiopia. PLoS One, 12(3), E0170898”. The authors through their study conducted in South Central Ethiopia argue that children from poor communities are most likely to be diagnosed with anemia. The prevalence of Anemia is attributed to the draught and food shortage that is normally experienced in such areas. They add that another probable disease suffered in these area is Malaria.

In conclusion, poverty affects children in many ways. It denies children an opportunity for education and other benefits in life. Parents should ensure they work tireless to eradicate poverty and that their children are not affected by this menace.

There is quite a bit of work to be done to meet the assignment requirements. First, the assignment does not integrate the findings into a discussion; rather, this is more of an extended annotated bibliography, where each source is summarized separately. Second, the citation formatting needs work. There should be citation information in the body of the assignment (i.e., author's name, year published), but the entire citation should only appear in the bibliography. It isn't clear why you've included the effects of poverty from different international contexts. If you want to compare US poverty to poverty in other regions, that's fine, but it needs to be clearly outlined in your assignment
