2: carry out a literature survey (searching and collecting relevant articles) and then refine it first by title, then by keywords, then by abstract and then use some quick scanning or other criteria to refine these articles.

3. For each article, you review, first decide what information you would like to collect/extract from the article.

4. Then (I would strongly recommend you to) prepare a Synthesis matrix or some tables comparing different papers/articles/studies/methods/solutions/results of some of the 'dissertation questions' topics' and record your literature review.

5. Also, use bullets and numbering whenever required.

6. Further, use only good authentic sources of information which include a journal, conference articles, books and patents). Try to avoid/minimise using website-sources.

7. In the theory section, provide all the information you feel necessary for readers to better understand the dissertation problem, solution and other contents of your dissertation.

For all chapters of your dissertation:

8. Remember to define/expand each abbreviation/term/symbol for its first use. Also, define each of these in the 'Terms' section of this chapter.

9. Each figure and table should be discussed and cited within the text before or immediately after that figure and table.

10. Each figure/table should have a figure number/table number and an appropriate title/caption. For a figure, the figure title/caption should be below the figure, while for a table it should be above the table.

11. Cite the source of each figure/table if you took it or adopted it from another source. You should provide this citation with the title/caption of the figure/table.

12. Try to use headings/subheadings/sub-sub-headings to provide better readability of the contents of the chapter.

13. Avoid very long sentences. As a rule, no sentence should be more than 25 words. Ideally, each sentence should be 10-15 words. Following long sentences is difficult. Not everyone has a good memory.

14. Please make sure each sentence is complete in itself.
