Literature Paper

The second most important aspect of this course will be a literature review of case studies for projects centered around a software engineering topic.  You will need to select a software engineering topic of sufficient real-world complexity such as Parking Lot Automation. This is an individual project and should not be completed as a group assignment.

Your term paper should include references to at least 5 reputable scholarly sources.  These sources can comprise published scientific books, journal articles, conference papers, published technical reports and/or summaries, or any sources posted inside any of the respected scholarly databases.    If you have a question as to the legitimacy of a source, then please ask me by e-mail anytime.  Please note that Wikipedia does not count as a legitimate source of scholarly work so avoid using it as one of your sources.  This literature survey paper is not only meant to discuss current trends in the subject area of software engineering and summarize the major research contributions of the papers you are surveying but also to analyze and evaluate them based on your own understanding of the research area and the work you have done on your course project or other projects you may have worked on in the past. 

The main text of the literature survey you need to write should between a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 15 pages (double-spaced, left-aligned, Times New Roman, 12 pt font).  This page count does not include a title page, a table of contents, and a References section using MLA format
