Late last year, the word was hit COVID-19. A virus that started in Wuhan has spread almost to every corner of the world. Its effects have been adverse since the world economy had been affected. The major business key player in the economy was shut down, which included the transport sector so as to control the spread of the virus from country to country. However, according to Chinazzi et al., 2020, posing restriction on traveling has been proved to be less effective, like washing hands, self-isolation, wearing a mask whenever in public, and self-quarantine (Perlman, 2020).
At first, there was a lot of speculation regarding the virus, some people calming it was flu and could not kill, also people though it could disappear. John Hopkins Medicine has clarified some myths surrounding the virus and clearly stated that it is a dangerous one and kills. Some countries have been hit hard, and the effects felt, Italy being one of the hot spots. Italy fast recorded its fists case on January 31, 2020, and later the virus spread to the other parts of the country, with the first dearth being reported on Feb 22. Italy has been one of the countries that have recorded high cases of the disease (Béné,2020).
Coronavirus is a novel virus, which means that it has not been experienced before; that is why it is long to get a vaccine. Many have thought that it was the flu, but the loves that it has taken say otherwise. (Carlos et al., 2020). Nobody was sure how long it would take; nobody thought it would be this long. However, scientists worldwide are working day and night trying to come up with a cure that would save us from this pandemic. The president of the united states told the public that the virus is not dangerous, but looking at the number of lives that have been lost all over the world, I don't think it is the flu.
There is a need to study the effects that the pandemic has caused. Lives have been lost due to the pandemic, adverse challenges to public health, food security, and education. According to the world health organization, millions of people worldwide are at risk of falling into intense poverty because of the disruption the pandemic has triggered economically and socially.
A number of enterprises worldwide face extinction because of these pandemic billions of workforces all over the world are at risk of losing their way of living. Those that are affected the most are those in the informal economy since many of them do not have access to social security and access to quality. Also, they have no access to basic assets. The pandemic led to the enforcement of measures that could control the spread of the virus. For instance, lockdowns and curfews have made it hard for breadwinners of families to earn income; as a result, men are not in a position to take care of their families (Perlman, 2020).
COVID 19 has taught us a lot. There is a need for preparedness in the coming years. Currently, the food system has been affected as much as everything is returning back to normal. Trade restrictions and confinement policies have been preventing farmers from getting into the market where buying and selling products occur. This has disrupted the food chains, which in turn has disrupted access to healthy diets. This affects the business and the immunity of our bodies since our bodies require a healthy, safe, and balanced diet to boost immunity (Béné, 2020).
To control the spread of COVID-19, countries had to put into place the effects of an emergency measure. Chinazzi et al., 2020 talk about the effects that came with these measures. The pandemic has challenged societies. The measures were meant to reduce the pandemic's spread by the progression of social distancing; for instance, looking at the effects of these containment measures from one area to another will provide a rich ground for better strategizing in the future.
Above all, we should learn to follow the world health organization's guidelines since they have the best of our interest in their heart. The precautions that have been put into place should be followed: washing hands, avoid touching the face, keeping social distance, and not forgetting to wear a mask. The virus is deadly, and we should not speculate but rely on facts from scholars and the health care systems.
