Assignment:
In class, we’ve discussed various elements of fiction (characterization, plot, setting, symbols, and point of view). Now, it's time to apply those elements and analyze one of the stories we have read this semester.
Choose from among the six stories we have read this semester and discuss how the author uses one or more of the elements of fiction to develop a theme. Focus on one theme in particular, and make sure the theme reflects the author’s opinion on the subject.
In addition, your essay should have a clear structure, with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Make sure to include textual evidence from the stories as well as outside support from at least two outside, credible sources, preferably academic texts found on GALILEO or a similar database.
Finally, be careful to proof read for grammar, format, and usage issues. Follow the rules for “Work in an Anthology” when citing the texts from the book.
