An lpp is characterized by various features which are also applied in this particular organization. The lpp should have appropriate decision variables that are physical quantities controlled by the person making the decision and are depicted by the use of mathematical symbols. The company opted to use cheaper raw materials in the manufacture of their products that would provide the same levels of operation. Also, an objective function that is clearly defined and for this case, the objective function was to minimize costs. The other characteristic was the incorporation of constraints in the model that would be fully described in a mathematical form. Some of the constraints included organizational policies, getting support from the executive, limited resources, shipping of the new raw materials, etc.
It is also necessary for a linear programming model to shoe non-negativity restrictions where in the IT company, the manager had to decide about a particular product number in minimum or positive but not negative. Linearity and finiteness were also considered in order to realize a feasible solution. This model helped the organization to effectively utilize its scarce resources by minimizing costs. Shifting production by using cheaper raw materials and selling the products at the same price increased the company revenue after implementation. Generally, the model was used as a guide or an experiment of exactly how the results would look like after actualization.
