My Journey To The East College

The idea of going to college always creates the urge to work and pursue one’s dreams. Over the years, education has been the key to success in most families across the globe. This was not any different from my family. My father is an educationist and has always advocated for education in the bid to empower young people. Being the first born in a family of five, education was the only way out of our small town and this would go a long way in motivating my siblings.

I was always a good student in high school. As much I hated the bullies and the HomeWorks, I found my way around and got admission at the east college as (Houston Community College, Inc.) this was always my college of choice and when I got that letter I saw an opportunity to finally reach my goals of being the best I could be.

Just like every teenager, life in college is an avenue to finally get away from the parent’s radar. It is during this time that I started conceptualizing the fact that I was going to college and I will have the freedom that I had wished for a long time. I the best part of the news was that I was joined the college with some of my colleagues from high school. This meant that we would be able to keep our dreams of starting a tech company alive. This was a very exciting moment in my life and I will always remember it.

My first semester in College

When I first got an acceptance letter from the Houston Community College, I was very excited to have this opportunity of joining one of the best colleges in the state. My first semester was a wonderful experience, but at some point, it had its highs and lows. It has been the best times of my education life and filled with excitement and challenges too which I must say; I enjoyed every bit. Coming from a small town, I knew I had to step up from my comfort zone which made me nervous at some point. Studying in a college far away from home was great since I met new friends that made me feel Houston Community College be my second home.

During my first semester, finding my class was in some way challenging although we had been oriented during our first day. I took almost one week and a half to be able to adjust in my class time table fully. I studied science, and my favorite class was biology. It was a fascinating subject as in college we now get to discover the various aspects of biology that we did not come across earlier. Biology to me is an intriguing subject especially genetics where we try to relate almost every aspect to one central thing, DNA. The workload in college was a bit more intense from that of high school as we had to learn concepts and critically analyze theories. Although the workload was intense, I had already made friends where we could at some point discuss different topics we had problems in, hence encouraging an efficient t learning environment.

Additionally, in my first semester, I decided to join the college ballet team which I did not last a week when I got injured pretty. I, therefore, quite the ballet team and decided to focus more on academics. So I had less play time, and more study time which did not go down well with me, and I had to find an activity that I could engage in during my free time. My friend asked me to join him in the music team where we could practice to all sorts of music, and we enjoyed ourselves.

Moreover, Houston Community College felt like a second home to me, and it is an excellent place to learn and grow by developing your talents. One funny thing was that, during my first semester, it was only the ARTS studios classes students in Heyes campus that were allowed to have their lockers. The rest of us were moving around with our backpacks and that how anyone could easily distinguish the students from the rest.

Houston Community College made me appreciate that in everything we do, we need each other to succeed. As the first semester was coming to an end, I knew I had to return home but was very eager to start my second semester as early as possible.

It has been a tradition for many years now that every new student member of the college. Houston Community College is one special place in the society with its diverse traditions, commitment to academic excellence, and character is one of the significant factors that have made Houston have such an exemplary learning environment.

When I first came to Houston Community College, I was escorted by my mother who left immediately I was done with my admissions. I took my small box of belongings and headed for my assigned room. On the way, I got head masked by this unknown section of students who I came to realize later it was part of my initiation in Houston Community College. The group referred to as sigma sigma-delta where I had to pass my initiation for me to be accepted as a full member of the Houston Community College. We were made to do a lot of crazy things which were enjoyable by the way. The initiation rights are part of Houston’s tradition, and I assure you new students that you will have to undergo this ritual.

Houston Community College is an enjoyable place to stay and each, and every one of you are encouraged to take appropriate personal precautions during their stay in the college. The college stresses the issue of safety to its students and the community at large. Additionally, the institution has zero tolerance for sexual assault, excess alcohol consumption, or anything that will interfere with your education. Personally, I remember when I joined the college, I had my share of negative implications that could, in the long run, interfere with my college education. I had indulged in alcohol consumptions that were against the strict rules of the institution. I mess up everything that the college stood for and what I believed. My academic grades began declining at an alarming rate until at one point the college summoned me and a decision was made that I was to be suspended. I pleaded with the College Board to give me a second chance to make things right which I did. I quit my alcohol consumption habits and decided to focus on what I was meant to do in the institution.

In conclusion, I want to give you some piece of advice on how to succeed in Houston Community College. The most striking feature of this problem is choosing your friends with caution, always have a set of rules that guide you in your entire college life smoothly. Follow your interest but stay open, take charge of your education, and focus on learning and not just grades. And remember, an attitude of gratitude brings great things.
