FINAL: Research Presentation Outline & Checklist Create a presentation with a script as a separate document (or included in the slide notes). Think of the script as what you would be saying if you were standing in front of the class, presenting on your topic. I will be reading your script as I go through your presentation. You have the option to embed audio of your presentation as well. Please view the rubric to see how your presentation will be graded. Your presentation should consist of at least six slides. Example format: Slide 1: Introduction This slide is an introduction to your presentation.

q Include a story, quote, or a question – something to grab the attention of your audience q Include a statement of your research question q Include the WHY of the question. Why you chose it and a brief background or history of the

problem. q Include a THESIS STATEMENT. This is in sentence format, not a question. It can be a brief, one

sentence answer to your research question. A thesis statement is the conclusion that you have come to based upon your research.

Slide 2: Main Point 1 This slide is the first main supporting point and supporting details for that point. Use at least 2 supporting details in each paragraph that are cited and supported by the resources from your annotated bibliography or other assignments. Supporting details can include facts, examples, and expert opinions (NOT your personal opinion). MAKE SURE TO CITE YOUR SOURCES.

Slide 5: Conclusion This slide brings everything together by summarizing your main points and restates the thesis

q Summarizes the main points (summarize them, don’t retype everything) q Include the thesis

Slide 6: References Include your citations on this slide. Anything you cited in your presentation goes here.

q Include at least FIVE citations q Two citations must be scholarly journal articles

q The other three citations can include newspaper articles, web articles, videos In addition, your presentation must include:

q At least one Creative Commons licensed image cited correctly within a slide. TIPS:

• Use graphics to help enhance and illustrate your report. • No walls of text, please. • Cite your sources!
