ABSTRACT

Purpose and Research Question

This research aims to fill the gap in the study of hypertension among pregnant women and create awareness appreciably on this discipline. This entry will furnish the understanding of hypertension among pregnant women as there is inadequate information regarding this indisposition. Adequate information would substantially keep a woman's life out of danger jointly with their baby and, most importantly, aid in recognizing appropriate measures that would solve this problem. Readers would be able to know to what extent is the public aware of hypertension, what are the signs and symptoms, what is its impact on the patient's and unborn baby’s health, how the disease can be cured, and the demographic factors (Abalos et al., 2018) of hypertension among pregnant women. The answers to the above questions will be responding to the research questions posed for this research.

Research Methods

The quantitative research method was utilized for this research since it is a fundamental approach in ascertaining the amount of data that will generate results after obtaining a sample for the population of interest. Useful records such as digits and numbers will be significant qualitative data for the research as the results must be concise, precise, and clear. The collection, analysis, and quantification of data will be the basis of the research methods.

Methods for Data Collection and Analysis

The research used polls, surveys, and questionnaires as data collection methods. Clear questions for the research were identified for the participants to answer using structured research instruments. A large sample of participants is taken to represent a certain population. Data inform of statistics and numbers were arranged in figures, charts, and tables. Questionnaires provided and facilitated the collection of numerical data. Mobile, paper, and online surveys were also utilized. Additionally, face-to-face interviews, systematic observations, website interceptors, and longitudinal studies were also used.

Expected Findings

From the research, those with a primary level of education are more aware of hypertension than those without a primary education (Hoeltzenbein et al., 2018). Pregnant women with a higher blood pressure exceeding the normal are diagnosed with hypertension. Preeclampsia, eclampsia, and high blood pressure are the type of hypertension pregnant women get diagnosed with. Clinical symptoms vary for everyone. Hypertension signs and symptoms emerge twenty weeks after pregnancy, especially in mothers who had normal blood pressure previously (Behrens et al., 2017). Hypertension in pregnant women can have various effects such as kidney failure, cardiac arrest, premature birth, insufficient oxygen exchange across the membrane, and cardiovascular accidents (George et al., 2016). Demographic factors such as level of education, wellbeing behavior, and material characteristics also contribute to hypertension in pregnant women. To treat hypertension, medication is essential since it mitigates fetal and maternal complications (Hughson et al., 2018). Adequate counseling is also needed for hypertension medication adherence since some results indicated non-adherence in most pregnant women.

Potential Usefulness of the Study

The findings of this study will benefit pregnant women as it will help know when to get professional healthcare if the signs and symptoms of hypertension emerge. Pregnant women will differentiate common illness from hypertension since common illness poses little health risk compared to hypertension. Family members with victims of hypertension and other community members will inherit adequate information about the disease, therefore aiding on the lookout and encouragement for preventive measures among pregnant women and offering support to the patients.
