Breakup Letter

This assignment offers you the opportunity to exercise a little creativity, if you so choose. Assume that you have been romantically involved for several years (the exact length and nature of this involvement you can determine for yourself) with one particular person. However, because of changes in yourself, your partner, or perhaps both of you, you now feel that you have not found the relationship fulfilling for some time. Therefore, you have decided to break off the relationship by means of a Dear John or Dear Jane letter. Because you still care deeply and fondly for your partner, you want to inflict as little pain as possible, but you do not want to offer the hope that you may change your mind. Write an essay-letter in which you break off the relationship as gently and sensitively as you can. When complete, you should have one to one and one-half pages.
