Palliative Care Nurse Specialist

13 November 2017

Dear Contact Person:

I'm writing to express my interest in the position you posted .

I have more than 8 years’ experience in Palliative care at MNG-HA, including working as Clinical Resource Nurse for palliative care. My responsibilities included the development and implementation of daily education sessions in the clinical area, with a main focus of palliative and end of life care. I worked closely with healthcare professionals across disciplines to help develop palliative care services from 2008 till 2015, providing evidence-based information to staff nurses so they were able to utilize best-practice in their patient care.

Presently I am working at the Center of Nursing Education, and an important aspect of my role is as chairperson for the End of Life program, in which I collaborate with current end-of-life clinicians to ensure that the program content matched the clinical learning needs of nurses caring for Saudi patients receiving palliative care and / or at end-of-life.

My current studies (Master of Health Administration & Management) have so far provided me with knowledge and skills I consider to be essential to the CNS role, such as strategic planning, managing workplace training, conduct of clinical research, running meetings and staff development.

I am passionate about ensuring my own knowledge in my area of clinical expertise is current and evidence-based, as can be seen on the accompanying CV, showing my frequent attendance at relevant symposia and conferences. I conceptualize the Nurse Specialist role as promoting excellence in nursing practice in Palliative and End-of-life care, and consider that my deep understanding of palliative care in the local hospital and community context would be enormously beneficial to patients, families and the organization.

I have the ability to work effectively within a team as well as across disciplines – an essential aspect of a senior nursing position such as Nurse Specialist.

Thank you for your consideration.
