Anti-Bias Education Goals Related to Families and Fairness:
1. All children will receive encouragement and language to define their own family and will see their family represented in the learning environment.
2. Children will develop awareness and appreciation of different kinds of families beyond their own as well as the ability to talk about their own and others’ families.
3. Children will develop skills to recognize and question unfair depictions of families and the lack of depictions (invisibility), which is also unfair.
4. Children will learn and practice language and actions to resist hurtful or biased messages about their and others’ families.
