creative and engaging. The lesson plan must utilize a current event news article from a

the selected grade level. The lesson plan must follow the format discussed in class and
must utilize the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the College and
Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) for your grade level. In addition, the lesson plan
must include: one Before Reading strategy, one During Reading Strategy, and one After
Reading Strategy (Comprehension); one Fluency strategy, and one Vocabulary
Strategy. In addition to the After Reading Comprehension strategy, you will responsible
for creating five (5) Comprehension questions for students: one literal question, two
inferential questions, and two applied/critical questions. Lastly, you will select two
NBC Learn videos (see BB) on the same theme/topic. You must include the title of the
video and the “air date”. Then, you will explain how you would use these videos in class
to continue a discussion (oral language) on the same theme/topic. You must select a
discussion technique and discussion questions (1-2) to discuss the videos. The lesson
plan will be discussed in class and how to interweave all of these strategies into a
succinct lesson plan. Follow the rubric on BB and properly label each strategy in bold.
