Lesson 8
Directions: Part 1: A friend has asked you for help with the following application letter. Rewrite and revise it as needed.
Part 2: Write a quick (7-9 sentences) explaining to your friend the changes that you made and why.
Hey ms. Brown,
Please consider my application for the position of assistant in the Engineering Department. I am a second year student majoring in electrical engineering technology. I love dogs, and I love swimming. In addition, I am presently an apprentice with your company (even though y’all don’t pay that much) and would like to continue my employment in the Engineering Department.
I have 6 years’ experience in electronics, including 2 years of engineering studies. I am confident my background will enable me to assist the engineers, and I would appreciate the chance to improve my skills through their knowledge and experience. I can fix almost anything that breaks. I recently took a class about engineering, and it helped me as an apprentice. I do not know much about being an assistant; however, I am willing to get your coffee and respond to your emails as fast as I can. Please hire me.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the possibilities and benefits of a position in the Engineering Department at Concord Electric. I know that one benefit is me making more cheddar! Plus, I’m cute and funny. Funny like, I make great jokes and I’m fun to be around. Not funny like funny looking. Please phone me any weekday after 3:00 p.m. at (555) 568-9867. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
The Best chance you got!

Lesson 9
The first step in creating your instructions will be to create a definitions and a description.
1. A sentence definition of the process you selected as your topic for Project 3.Your sentence definition must be between one and three sentences long, utilize thoughtful and accurate word choice, and be free from grammatical errors.
2. A complex product description of the tool used to complete the task you selected as your topic for Project 3. This should be arranged spatially, and should be no more than one paragraph (5-10 sentences) long.
Both the sentence definition of the process and the complex product description of the tool should reflect a clear understanding of the principals outlined in the class materials for each. The definition and the description should be included in the same document and clearly marked with a header.
Lesson 10
For this activity, you are going to submit a progress report on your Project 2. Your audience for this is me! This is a more common and less formal version of the progress report than what is often used in the workplace, so be sure to follow the template that is attached. After you complete the report, upload it to the here.
The progress report should detail the progress made and any changes you've needed to make as you worked. This is an individual report. All members of the group should complete and submit one.
There are no "right answers" for this progress report as long as the progress indicates the requirements from the last step of the project. First person is acceptable in this assignment but should be kept to a minimum. Second person is not permitted. Excessive grammatical errors will result in a reduced grade.
