Assignment Overview:

At this point in the semester, material has been covered of many different ethnic groups that have overcome barriers in their respective sports.  For this assignment, students are tasked with researching an influential African American athlete that has made a name for themselves both on and off the playing field.  Please, see the associated article below, but realize that this is not an exhaustive list, but rather an initial resource to narrow one's choice for the focus of this course paper.  Again, students are not limited to just those influential athletes that are only listed in the article below.

Items to Address:

12-point, Times New Roman font, double-spaced Word document.

A minimum of 3-full pages of written work covering your chosen athletes early life/background, their contributions as an athlete to to their sport, and finally, their contributions off of the playing field (e.g., community activisit, social justice initiatives, charitable work, etc.). 

· Other than the three (3) mian areas of focus within your paper (early life.background, contributions to the sport, contributions off the playing field), this written assignment needs to begin with a proper introduction paragraph, to then end with a conclusion paragraph, wrapping up your findings.

· Your 3-full pages of work do not include the spacing from your NAME, LESM152, DATE, etc., so please be sure to elaborate on these talking points.
